RM 106.80
Touted as Thai cinema's first homegrown 3D movie, Dark Flight is the latest spooky brainchild from Isara Nadee, part of the Ronin Team that directed the infamous Art of the Devil 2. The aircraft chiller took its inspirations from the worst aviation disaster ever in Thailand that resulted in over a hundred casualties in 1998. With singer/actress Marsha Watanapanich (Alone and Phobia 2) top-lining, the flick combines the claustrophobic nature of flying and the classic haunted house setup with the latest 3D technology to hair-raising, spine-tingling effect. It's no surprise that the Thai horror blockbuster has managed to possess moviegoers everywhere in the Southeast Asia.

Young flight attendant New (Marsha Wattanapanich) miraculously survived a tragic plane crash ten years ago. Insisting that it was the doings of the vengeful spirits onboard, she was ordered to receive psychotherapy. Today, she is able to return to the frontline. But on her first comeback flight from Bangkok to Phuket, New is shocked to find that her plane is the one that crashed ten years ago, only having been repaired and refurbished by the airline. Now that the plane, shrouded in an unsettling eeriness, has already taken off, it's too late for her to back out. With nowhere to run, New and the other passengers are plunged into the fright of their lives...

This version comes with both the 3D version and the 2D version of the movie on Blu-ray. A 3D Blu-ray player, 3D TV and compatible 3D glasses (not included herein) are required for the playback of the 3D version.

On March 11, 2011, a powerful earthquake and the tsunami waves that followed killed tens of thousands of people in northeast Japan. Journalist Ishii Kota chronicled his ten days in the town of Kamaishi one of the hardest-hit areas in the disasters in his book Itai Shinsai, Tsunami of Hate ni. Writer-director Kimizuka Ryoichi (the Bayside Shakedown series, Nobody to Watch Over Me) recreates those ten days in Reunion. The film stars Nishida Toshiyuki (Ghost of a Chance, Outrage Beyond) as a retired funeral home employee who brought order to Kamaishi's temporary funeral home and helped families of the victims properly put their loved ones to rest. Proceeds from the film were donated to the recovery effort in the disaster zone.

After the March 11th tsunami virtually wiped away half of Kamaishi, a temporary morgue was set up in a local gym to handle the dead. After the disaster, retired undertaker Chiba Atsushi (Nishida Toshiyuki) volunteered to take charge of the funeral home. Using his years of experience, Atsushi taught rescue workers to handle the bodies with care, arranged for the bodies to be presented in a respectable state to family members and spoke softly to them as he prepared them for their final journey into the crematorium. Soon, rescue workers, city employees and medical professionals working on the site were so touched by Atsushi's dedication to the cause that they eventually came together to lend a helping hand.

Vicol Entertainment Ltd. Flash Point (2007) (Blu-ray) (Vicol Version) (Hong Kong Version)
RM 93.40
The Donnie Yen-Wilson Yip tag team return with the blistering actioner Flash Point. The actor-director combo previously made waves with SPL and Dragon Tiger Gate, reaching new levels of excitement with their depiction of onscreen martial arts mayhem. Flash Point is a return to SPL territory - at least character-wise. This prequel to SPL finds Yen's Inspector Ma involved in a difficult case versus a trio of deadly Vietnamese bad guys. Inspector Ma's partner Wilson (Louis Koo) poses as a member of the gang to keep tabs on the trio, leading to the arrest of Archer (Ray Lui of To Be Number One). However, Archer's cohorts Tony (Collin Chou of The Matrix Reloaded) and Tiger (Xing Yu of Kung Fu Hustle) are still at large, and will stop at nothing to prevent Wilson and other witnesses from testifying. When they kidnap Wilson's girlfriend (Fan Bing Bing) to blackmail him, only Inspector Ma is willing to come to his partner's aid - and whoever stands in his way had better watch out!

In Flash Point, Donnie Yen utilizes Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) to portray Inspector Ma's powerful fighting prowess. Yen pulls out a full arsenal of fighting techniques, from kung-fu to Muay Thai to jujitsu, especially during the film's climactic mano-a-mano duel between Yen and Collin Chou, which should astound even the most jaded screen fighting fan. A duel between Yen and Xing Yu in street restaurant is also impressive, as are the flashes of stuntwork and gunplay from the action-ready cast. Louis Koo embodies his undercover cop character with appropriate pathos, and the cast is aided by the addition of award-winning actors, including Kent Cheng, Best Actor winner for The Log, and Helena Law Lan, Best Actress winner for Wilson Yip's Bullets Over Summer. The Donnie Yen-Wilson Yip combo has proven so successful that the two are planning to work together at least two more times, including a forthcoming adaptation of the popular pulp character Dr. Wesley.

Vicol Entertainment Ltd. The Stool Pigeon (Blu-ray) (Hong Kong Version)
RM 93.40
The acclaimed 2008 crime thriller The Beast Stalker solidified director Dante Lam's status as the new king of Hong Kong action cinema. He and his writer Jack Ng return two years later on the thematic follow-up The Stool Pigeon, which again delivers in the pulse-raising action, breathtaking suspense, and heart-rending characterization that pulls the audience into the compelling drama and surprising plot twists.

Again treading the gray area between right and wrong, the Stalker stars Nick Cheung and Nicholas Tse have a reversal of roles in Stool. Winning an unprecedented seven Best Actor awards in the last outing, Cheung is a conflicted cop struggling between his duty and conscience this time as Nicholas Tse becomes the two-bit criminal forced to cooperate with him as his stool pigeon. Joining them are Taiwan actress Guey Lun Mei and Mainland actor Lu Yi, who both play against type as tough gangsters. Stalker's Liu Kai Chi, Miao Pu, and Sherman Chung return to co-star in the tense and gritty caper hit, while Chin Ka Lok and Wong Wai Fai, the action choreographer team behind Lam's Fire of Conscience earlier this year, are responsible for the film's thrilling car chases and visceral fight scenes.

Living in the guilt of sacrificing his informant (Liu Kai Chi) in a previous operation, Criminal Intelligence Inspector Don Lee (Nick Cheung) is wary when his superior orders him to send another informant to spy on the criminal operations of Barbarian (Lu Yi), a vicious gangster plotting a jewelry heist. He seeks ex-convict Ghost (Nicholas Tse), who agrees to work for Don despite vowing to go straight since he's desperately in need of money to repay a debt and save his sister. Ghost's driving skills help him infiltrate Barbarian's gang and earn his trust, but by feeding information to Don and hooking up with Barbarian's girlfriend Dee (Guey Lun Mei), Ghost is pushing himself into a tight and deadly corner...

Commissioned to create a documentary about Shanghai to be played at the World Expo 2010, Jia Zhangke made not a glamorous or celebratory PR film, but an insightful and nostalgic homage to the host city in the unique style of the world-renowned Sixth Generation Chinese filmmaker. An official selection for the Un Certain Regard category of the 2010 Cannes Film Festival, I Wish I Knew explores the history of the ever-evolving Chinese metropolis through interviews with 18 persons of varying degrees of connection with the city. Like the chapters of a novel, their personal stories together form a bigger picture of the changes of Shanghai from the 1930s to the present day. These people include descendants of legendary figures like Zhang Xinyi (Zeng Guofan's great-granddaughter), Fei Mingyi (Fei Mu's daughter), Du Meiru (Du Yuesheng's daughter), and contemporary luminaries like director Hou Hsiao Hsien, Spring in a Small Town actress Wei Wei, singer Rebecca Pan, painter Chen Danqing, and writer Han Han. Their stories of rebels and revolution, soldiers and war, gangsters and assassination, artists and romance are neatly linked together by an anonymous character portrayed by Jia's regular actress Zhao Tao.

Often considered the spiritual successor to Derek Yee's acclaimed romantic drama Lost in Time (2003), The Road Less Traveled again teams up the celebrated filmmaker with Louis Koo, with Yee serving as producer while the popular actor takes starring role rather than a cameo. Director and co-writer Derek Chiu (Brothers) has crafted a poignant and touching tale of redemption from a similar premise about a bittersweet romance born out of a fatal traffic accident. Much credit should be given to the heartfelt performances of co-stars Karen Mok and Crystal Huang, who play the two women Koo is torn between. The film also counts TVB star Wayne Lai, Mainland actors Yin Xiaotian, Liang Dawei, and Baty Chen among its superb cast.

Hong Kong truck driver Hui Shing Leung (Louis Koo) travels back and forth between Mainland China and Hong Kong every day. One rainy night on the highway to Guangzhou, Leung accidentally runs over and kills a man, whose wife Lu Yin (Crystal Huang) has just learned about her pregnancy. Out of guilt and pity, Leung tries to make up for the loss and pain he has brought her. He begins taking care of the widow and helping out at her small restaurant. In time, affections grow between the two, much to the chagrin of Leung's live-in girlfriend Susan (Karen Mok). But, just when there seems to be a way out of this love triangle, Yin is devastated to find out the truth that her guardian angel is also her husband's killer...

Chow Sing Sing (Stephen Chow) returns for even more undercover hijinks in Fight Back to School III, the wackiest and most star-packed entry in the series! Unlike the previous two films, Sing's undercover assignment isn't high school. Instead, he's assigned to go undercover as the husband of Judy Tong, a wealthy socialite played with scene-stealing charm by the divine Anita Mui! Apparently Chow Sing Sing is a dead ringer for Judy's husband, who was discovered murdered only days before. By pretending to be her husband, Sing can flush out the real murderer...or prove that Judy is, in fact, the guilty one! Experienced comedymeister Wong Jing takes directing duties from previous Fight Back to School director Gordon Chan, and serves up buckets of laughs by gleefully skewering Basic Instinct, and Stephen Chow's God of Gamblers films, among others. Co-starring Anthony Wong, Kathy Chau, Nat Chan Bak Cheung, Leung Ka Yan, and returning cast member Sharla Cheung, Fight Back to School III is yet another monster comedy hit from Hong Kong's top comic superstar!

Director Higashi Yoichi's Wandering Home is a fictional adaptation of an autobiography by a traumatized war photographer whose alcoholism destroyed himself and his family. Now, see the story from his long-suffering ex-wife's point of view in Kaasan's Mom's Life, based on the popular autobiographical manga series by Saibara Rieko. This live-action adaptation stars Koizumi Kyoko (Tokyo Sonata) as Saibara, a manga artist struggling to juggle work, her two children, and her alcoholic husband everyday. In a surprise casting move that shocked the Japanese film world, Koizumi's real-life ex-husband Nagase Masatoshi (Funuke Show Some Love You Losers) plays Saibara's self-destructive husband in a performance that earned him the Best Actor award at the Japan Film Critics Award. Director Kobayashi Shotaro and writer Manabe Katsuhiko inject a sense of humor into the story without undermining the subject matter, fluidly shifting between dark comedy and a serious exploration of alcoholism's effect on family.

On a typical day, manga artist Saibara Rieko (Koizumi Kyoko) takes her two children to school, works at home, and visits her husband Yutaka (Nagase Masatoshi) at rehab. A former war photographer who has been truly affected by what he has seen in the war zone, Yutaka is a good family man, a failing writer, and an alcoholic. Despite Rieko's warnings, Yutaka finally drinks himself into the hospital, leading to the two agreeing to divorce. When the children confess to their mother that they miss their father, Rieko agrees to take Yutaka back again when he quits drinking. Will Yutaka finally lives up to his promise, or will he go back to his old ways?

A seasoned veteran of the Chinese New Year extravaganza, Raymond Wong returns with a rollicking comedy this festive season in An Inspector Calls! As is standard for a Chinese New Year film, the cast is stacked with top-level talent, including Louis Koo (Don't Go Breaking My Heart 2), Teresa Mo (Hotel Deluxe), Eric Tsang (Horseplay), Gordon Lam (Overheard 3), Chrissie Chau (Break Up 100), Karena Ng (Hello Babies) and Zhang Han, among many others. What is less standard is director-producer-star Raymond Wong's choice of source material. The film is adapted from English playwright J.B. Priestly's 1945 play of the same name. Wong and company have reinvented the thrilling drawing room mystery as a raucous black comedy.

Just as the fabulously wealthy Mr. and Mrs. Kau (Eric Tsang and Teresa Mo) are preparing for their beloved daughter Sherry (Karena Ng) and her fianc Johnny's (Zhang Han) engagement party, an unwanted distraction barges in on the festivities in the form of Inspector Karl (Louis Koo), who's investigating the apparent suicide of a pregnant young woman, Cindy Cheung (Chrissie Chau). It turns out that Cindy, whether through work or other more scandalous means, was acquainted with every single member of the Kau family. What ensues thereafter is a wacky investigation that threatens to reveal the Kau family's most shocking secrets.

It may sound like clich , but Japanese people really do love their fish. If Japan has the best and freshest fish in the world, then Tokyo's Tsukiji Fish Market is where you're most likely to find them. It's the home of Japan's biggest daily fish auction, and it's a place of fierce competition between fish merchants that have been in the business for generations. The Taste of Fish puts this long-lasting business tradition on the big screen with the hopes of joining the ranks of the Tora-San and Fishing Fool's Diary films, both long-running Japanese film series about the various adventures of common folk.

Based on a comic series, The Taste of Fish follows businessman Shuntaro (Osawa Takao), who has a successful career in a trading company and is in a steady relationship with girlfriend Asuka (Tanaka Rena). One day, Shuntaro has to help out at the fish wholesaler store run by Asuka's father, and he immediately falls in love with the world of Tsukiji Fish Market. Soon, Shuntaro quits his job and devotes all of his time to running the business while learning about the market's fascinating set of long-standing traditions. However, he must first also learn to distinguish the tastes of different fishes before he can survive in the competitive world of Tsukiji.

Hong Kong director Dante Lam takes audiences on a journey into a disturbed mind in psychological thriller That Demon Within. In one of his most challenging roles to date, Daniel Wu stars as a righteous policeman who becomes consumed by evil when he unwittingly saves a ruthless criminal, played by Nick Cheung. A considerable change of pace from entertaining action dramas like Beast Stalker and Unbeatable, That Demon Within sees Lam bravely stepping into a new artistic territory as he explores a dark side that lives within all of us in this unrelentingly dark and always gripping film. That Demon Within had its world premiere at the Panorama section of the Berlin Film Festival and was the closing film of the 2014 Hong Kong International Film Festival.

Dave (Daniel Wu) is a by-the-books police officer who is assigned to hospital duty. When Han (Nick Cheung) is brought in one day from a serious traffic accident, Dave agrees to save Han's life by giving him an urgent blood transfusion. However, the policeman discovers afterwards that Han is actually a ruthless criminal who has killed cops and commits daring daytime heists with his cohorts in the Demon Gang. Soon, Dave finds himself haunted by what he has done, especially after hearing that Han has escaped police custody. Suffering from hallucinations and memories of a trauma in his past, Dave sets out to find Han and stop the Demon Gang before he goes mad.

The famous tale of Mae Nak Phra Khanong gets the comedic treatment in Pee Mak Phra Khanong, a horror comedy from Shutter director Bangjong Pisanthanakun. Thai heartthrob Mario Maurer (Jan Dara: The Beginning) stars as Mak, a soldier returning to his loving wife Nak (Davika Hoorne) after surviving the war. However, his four war buddies and the rest of the town realize something that Mak doesn't want to believe: His wife is dead and has returned to the human world as a ghost.

Pee Mak isn't the first adaptation of the famous ghost tale, but Pisanthanakun brings a refreshing comic twist to a somber tale of terror and star-crossed lovers by adding Mak's four war buddies as comic relief. The result is a film that is a spooky and hilarious ride with a touching love story. The fun genre hybrid proved to be a great draw for audiences across Asia, making Pee Mak the highest grossing domestic film of all time in Thailand, as well as a surprise hit in Hong Kong and Taiwan.

Inspired by a true story, this zero-to-hero coming-of-age sports flick stars Lee Bum Soo (More Than Blue) as a half-hearted weighlifting coach who becomes an important mentor to a group of growing teenage girls striving to stay on their feet in an unpopular sport. Starlet Jo An (Muoi: The Legend of a Portrait), Lee Yoon Hoi (Perfect Couple), and newcomers Choi Moon Kyung, Jeon Bo Mi, and Kim Min Young make up the fresh-faced team of amateur athletes. Bronze Medalist is the first feature from director Park Geon Yong, who previously assisted on Typhoon.

After his retirement, Olympics bronze medalist weightlifter Ji Bong (Lee Bum Soo), better known as "King Kong", reluctantly becomes a coach at a girls' middle school out in the boonies. Released in 1993, a year of peak production for Jet Li, Last Hero in China was Wong Jing's go at a story about one of the most loved folk heroes in Chinese history, Wong Fei Hung. By that time, Jet Li had already established himself as the definitive Wong Fei Hung of the early 90s, having starred as the martial artist and physician in four of Tsui Hark's Once Upon a Time in China films. As it's written and directed by Wong Jing, Last Hero in China has a decidedly lighter, more comedic tone than Jet Li's other outings as Wong Fei Hung, but, with Yuen Woo Ping as action choreographer, the film's action scenes are no less dynamic than those of its more sober cousins.

Thanks to the bumbling efforts of his disciples So (Dicky Cheung) and Leung Fun (Bryan Leung), Wong Fei Hung returns to Guangdong after a stint in Hong Kong to find that his martial arts academy has moved to a new space right beside a brothel. Although he's worshipped as a hero by the brothel's owner (Nat Chan) and his sister (Anita Yuen), he has no time for them, as he uncovers a shocking human trafficking operation. While investigating, he encounters Tit Yin (Sharla Cheung) and her father, who've traveled from Sichuan to find her kidnapped sister. Together, the three delve deeper into the mystery, and discover that the person behind the whole human trafficking ring may be none other than the city's top government official, Lui Yat Siu (Alan Chui).

Fourteen years after July Rhapsody, Karena Lam and Jacky Cheung reunite onscreen in the drama Heaven in the Dark, which garnered both stars acting nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards. Based on the 2005 Hong Kong stage play The French Kiss, the film is framed around a heated conversation between two people with conflicting memories of a past incident that greatly damaged their lives and faith. Heaven in the Dark marks the directorial debut of Karena Lam's husband, Steve Yuen Kim Wai, who previously directed commercials and music videos. Various well-known Hong Kong theater actors appear in the film including Chu Pak Him, Tyson Chak, Rosa Maria Velasco and Anthony Wong.

Former pastor Marco (Jacky Cheung) and Michelle (Karena Lam) cross paths at a party, and there is clearly history between them. The former is a cynical, disillusioned shell of a man; the latter is a mother and pastor's wife. Both still deeply hurt by the past, the two confront each other, reopening old wounds in search for reason and remorse. Five years ago, the ambitious and charismatic Marco was a respected pastor and the head of a non-profit organization, two worlds that he tries to keep separate. However, Michelle, a new junior staff member at his NGO, breaks the rules and joins his church congregation. Drawn to each other, the two grow increasingly close until one drunken night, they share a kiss. Soon after, Michelle sues Marco for sexual harassment in a highly publicized case that would change both of their lives.

When Hong Kong falls into darkness, it's up to a team of heroic firefighters to bring light back into the city in As the Light Goes Out, a big-budget disaster thriller from Gallants director Derek Kwok. Sharing the screen for the first time since Dragon Tiger Gate, Nicholas Tse and Shawn Yue co-star as two firefighters whose friendship is tested in the face of great calamity. Reflecting the mood of contemporary Hong Kong society, Kwok shows that the true danger in a fire is the smoke, which can envelop us and leave us with our own fears and insecurities. Co-starring Simon Yam, Hu Jun and Andy On, As the Light Goes Out topped the Hong Kong box office for four consecutive weeks and earned eight nominations at the Hong Kong Film Awards.

Christmas Eve, Hong Kong. Temperature is at an all-time high, and so is the tension between young firefighters Sum (Nicholas Tse), Bong (Shawn Yue) and Fai (Andy On) at the Lung Kwu Tang Fire Station. A year earlier, Bong took the fall for a deadly incident, and Fai took advantage of it to get ahead. Since then, Bong and Sum's friendship with Fai has been sour and hostile. Meanwhile, Hai Yang (Hu Jun) is a newly transferred firefighter from Mainland China, and hard-line veteran Pui (Simon Yam) is determined to break him in before he enters retirement. When a seemingly small fire at a local distillery leads to an explosion at a nearby power plant, Hong Kong falls into a citywide blackout. Now, the Lung Kwu Tang firefighters must band together to stop the fire at the power plant and rescue those trapped inside.

This edition includes a visual commentary by director Derek Kwok, star Shawn Yue, special effects supervisor Henri Wong and cinematographer Jason Kwan, as well as making of, interviews and trailers.

Writer/director Wong Jing's famed gambling hijinks get a healthy dose of heroic bloodshed in Casino Raiders, a star-packed gambling film co-directed by Jimmy Heung. Sam (Alan Tam) and Crab (Andy Lau) are a pair of skilled gamblers who encounter harrowing hardships when Sam chooses to leave the life. Initially the best of partners, Sam meets a beautiful heiress (Idy Chan) whose father offers to give him a job if he stops swindling others. But Crab is either unable or unwilling to leave the life, and engages the vengeful attention of some Japanese Yakuza. The gangsters strike back at Crab by kidnapping Sam's girl, leading to an explosive climax that will test the brotherhood of the two gambling heroes! Co-starring Rosamund Kwan, Casino Raiders mixes Hong Kong action and heroic bloodshed melodrama with ultra-cool gambling action as only writer-director Wong Jing is able! Wong Jing would also go on to direct the wildly popular God of Gamblers series starring Chow Yun Fat, which also mixed action, comedy, and cool gambling heroes into an undeniably entertaining package!

The tales of the heroic Yang family have been the stuff of legends. Spanning several generations, the Yangs' military exploits are considered the epitome of brotherhood, courage and loyalty to family. As a result, their stories have been adapted for many popular television series and films over the years, making them one of the most famous families in Chinese culture. The rescue of Yang Ye by his seven sons is now the subject of Saving General Yang, the latest film from director Ronny Yu (Bride with White Hair). The veteran Hong Kong director finally returns to filmmaking seven years after Fearless with this grand period epic produced by Ip Man producer Raymond Wong. No stranger to making action-packed blockbusters, Yu expertly stages exciting fight scenes (with the help of action choreographed by Stephen Tung) that complements the story's powerful emotions of sacrifice and family. From large-scale attacks involving boulders to a tense duel with arrows, the action scenes in Saving General Yang will leave audiences gasping for breath.

Yu has also gathered a talented cast of male superstars to play the Yang warriors. In addition to Adam Cheng (Zu: The Warriors From Magic Mountain) as patriarch Yang Ye, the general's seven courageous sons are played by Ekin Cheng (Young and Dangerous), Raymond Lam (Sorcerer and the White Snake), Vic Chou (New Perfect Two), Wu Chun (My Kingdom), Fu Xinbo (Hot Summer Days) Yu Bo (Hotel Deluxe) and Li Chen (Aftershock). Saving General Yang is spectacular old-school action entertainment made for a new generation!

When a rival nation sends troops to invade the Song Dynasty, the emperor sends general Yang Ye (Adam Cheng) to defend the nation. However, Yang's place in the court is shaky due to a feud with Pan Renmei caused by the accidental death of his son at the hands of one of Yang's sons. At the battle, Yang is abandoned by Pan's troops, leaving him trapped in the face of an attack by Yeli Yuan (Shao Bing), an enemy general who wants to kill Yang to avenge his father. After learning about their father's predicament, Yang Ye's seven sons set out to rescue their father at any cost.

Blu-ray Edition comes with a special commemorative cover. It includes making of, interviews and trailers.
