Eros cologne for Men by Versace was introduced in 2012. Versace Eros is classified as Aromatic Fougere fragrance. Versace Eros fragrance composition is a creation of Aurelien Guichard, Givaudan. The prestigious house of Versace is launching a new men’s fragrance, called Eros inspired, as Donatella Versace put it by 'the Greek god of love and the son of Aphrodite'. Greek Mythology was also one of Gianni Versace the house's founder's key influences and the scent aims to channel 'unbridled sexual attraction'. Inspiration by ancient Greece has its roots since the time when Gianni Versace started his fashion empire and used goddess Medusa as the symbol of the brand to adorn numerous products of the house, and so does the new bottle of men's fragrance Eros. Four years have passed since the last men's fragrance was released by the house with Versace Pour Homme from 2008. Donatella Versace's desire was to fit Eros into the concept of the Versace brand and to depict the style and significance of long-lasting design, quality and popularity. "Eros is truly the DNA of the house of Versace," explains Donatella. "We have the Greek motif that makes you think of ancient Greece and antiquity, mythology, and the color turquoise represents the Mediterranean. It's very Versace." Eros was created by Aurelien Guichard of Givaudan and it was announced as fresh, woody and slightly oriental. The fragrance includes mint oil combined with green apple and Italian lemon. Warmth is provided by tonka mixed with Venezuelan ambroxan and geranium flowers giving the fragrance a fougere twist. The flacon of the new fragrance for men Eros is created of turquoise colored glass with the head of Medusa on the body of the bottle and on its top. The campaign image for the fragrance is, naturally enough, a muscle-bound bronzed Adonis, also known as male model Brian Shimansky, who was shot by Mert and Marcus under Donatella Versace's creative direction. Donatella wanted a man-gladiator for the new campaign, who is fighting for what he wants, fighting for his goals. "This is a fragrance for a man who is his own master. He is a hero: a man who defends their ideas and goals," stated Donatella Versace. The fragrance will premiere at TFWA 2012 in Cannes.
