With the F5 smartphone, Oppo wants to up the selfie game to the next level. The Oppo F5 comes with an AI (Artificial Intelligence) powered front camera, which the company believes helps in improving selfies.
Aside from bringing AI prowess to selfies, the Oppo F5 has other things to offer. Here is a rundown of its specs and features.
Last year marked the advent of the bezel-less trend, spearheaded by the likes of Xiaomi with their near bezel-less Mi MIX display, and then followed by other smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG G6. Not only flagship smartphones hopped on the trend, but even mid-range handsets like the Vivo V7+, featuring a wide-screen display running at HD resolution.
On the other hand, Oppo has incorporated a 6-inch full-HD display in the F5 which runs at a resolution of 1080×2160 pixels. It also comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio and pixel density of 402ppi. With that, the F5 boasts crisp and clear text and icons, allowing users to enjoy reading e-books, watch movies, and browse their favorite websites.
AI Beauty Mode
Oppo claims that the F5's AI-powered 20-MP front camera (of aperture 2.0) can help capture users' photogenic best in their selfies. Regardless of gender, age, skin tone, and skin type, the AI is powerful enough to capture human beauty in all forms. With the AI beauty mode's 200 positioning spots, the F5 makes facial contours and landmarks to enhance the symmetry between facial features including eyes, nose, jawline, and cheekbones. The AI creates algorithms which are designed to keep the user's face in focus – so whether in a crowded environment, in the park, or at a picturesque place such as watching the sunset, the AI can tell the difference between the background lighting conditions to illuminate the user's face. Also, when the beauty mode is turned on, the AI improves the aesthetic aspect of facial features such as skin, making its tone brighter. It also eliminates nasty blemishes and unappealing dark circles.
As for the performance, the Oppo F5 is powered by MediaTek Helio P23 processor. This chipset runs on eight cores and is clocked at 2.5 GHz. With that, it’s powerful enough to run graphics-intensive Android game and use demanding applications without experiencing slowdowns. It also supports 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM, depending on the model. The standard model has a 32 GB of internal storage, while the deluxe model comes with 64 GB of storage.
In terms of battery life, the Oppo F5 is fitted with a 3,200mAh battery that supports fast charging. With that, it can only take an hour for the battery to go up to 100 percent which is pretty decent.
