19 October 2017 | Jonathan So

The iPhone X symbolises the 10th-anniversary of the prestigious iPhone smartphone series from Apple and it is due to be available in Malaysia on November 3. The price for iPhone X in Malaysia has been officially confirmed on Apple Malaysia’s online store to start from RM5149 for the 64GB version while the 256GB version will be priced at RM5899.

Yes, it’s true that the sky-high price tag can be overwhelming for many, including hardcore iPhone fans, causing them to either buy cheaper iPhones or to jump ship and switch to other smartphone brands instead. However, if you have deep enough pockets and do not want to have an iPhone that looks similar to its predecessors, the iPhone X is an exciting smartphone that you should definitely look forward to. Here is a quick recap on some reasons why the iPhone X is one of the most talked about phone in 2017:

A Revolutionary Design

One of the top reasons why you should anticipate the iPhone X is because of its design. It is the first iPhone that has undergone a major overhaul design-wise in the past three years. The iPhone X manages to break the monotony of the iPhone design and brings a fresh facelift to the newest device.

The iPhone X design is exciting not just because it is new – it is also stunning. The iPhone X sports a 5.8-inch 2436 x 1125p OLED display, a feature that is not seen on any of its predecessors. Moreover, the iPhone X has the best screen-to-body ratio in the industry as Apple has removed the top and bottom bezels as well. Combine this with its body constructed by stainless steel and glass and you get an elegant smartphone that is unlike any other.

New Security Feature – Face ID

As mentioned above, the bottom bezel is no longer present on the iPhone X. That means the device will not come with the signature Home button that iPhone users are accustomed to. In its place is the new Face ID unlocking system that enables you to There are only two colour options that Malaysians can choose from – Silver and Space Grey.

Impressive Cameras

The iPhone X is equipped with dual 12MP shooters at the back – a wide-angle lens and the other a telephoto lens – with f/1.8 and f/2.4 aperture respectively. Both cameras come with optical image stabilizers to counter hand-shake and produce sharp images under 2x Optical Zoom. The dual cameras are more than capable of shooting crystal-clear photos in all lighting conditions.

Hidden inside the small notch cutout atop the iPhone X screen is the front camera system which Apple coins as “TrueDepth”. Besides housing a 7MP shooter, the cutout also consists of cameras and sensors including an infrared camera, flood illuminator, proximity scanner, ambient light sensor, speaker, microphone and dot projector. All of these combines together for extended functions including Animoji, Face ID, and a number of cool camera tricks.

With remarkable specs and a gorgeous design, the iPhone X looks like it is a league of its own. On paper, the iPhone X seems like the phone to beat. Apple has always been known for producing reliable iPhones; so if the iPhone X’s price is still a hard pill to swallow, you can always consider purchasing other iPhones instead.
