Millennials Are Going Crazy for These 4 Streetwear Brands

Instead of relying on luxury brands to show off your style, there are so many streetwear labels that are on par with the likes of Givenchy, Gucci, or Gaultier. With the likes of modern streetwear brands like Supreme, Bape, and Off-White , you’re able to stay trendy without having to follow luxury fashion trends that can often be too over the top.

Millennials these days often seek the right balance between branded goods and stylish street style. In their eyes, luxury brands can be a little too much for everyday wear when all they want is a comfortable pair of sneakers and not the ridiculously high Louboutin Hot Chicks. Perhaps that’s why millennials are crazy for streetwear; they offer chic comfort yet it allows the expression of creativity and stylistic prowess through the clothing.


This New York City-based streetwear brand initially started in 1994 to cater the skateboarding community as well as hip-hop and punk rock youths. As time goes by, Supreme became more than just a skateboarding brand through its multiple collaborations with more prominent brands.

Recently, Supreme launched a collaboration with Louis Vuitton and released unique items that combines the classic Louis Vuitton monogram with Supreme’s bold logo. An example would be like the iconic Keep All bag with a shiny red finish and a large Supreme logo imprinted on the body. The price tags on the Supreme x Louis Vuitton collab might exceed the budget of many so it doesn’t hurt to just settle on some of Supreme’s best-sellers like the Supreme hoodie or the Supreme plain white tee.


Founded by American DJ turned Milan-based fashion designer, Virgil Abloh, Off-White was started in 2012 to provide a middle ground between luxury wear and streetwear. Abloh was originally the creative director of Kanye West’s fashion brand, Yeezy. The brand’s tagline is

Abloh and Off-White became known for their “practical conceptual” style where they combine fashion trends with an architectural edge. Abloh was inspired by his international travels so he decided to infuse his designs with an international flair. Off-White’s best-selling item to date is their Off-White “off white” tee shirt. Not only Off-White offers clothing for men and women, they also offer furniture, printed publications, curated music and videos, and other special projects.


Vetements, pronounced vet-MAHN, is the French word for clothes but this streetwear seems to elevate their clothing to be more than just what you wear on a whim. Started by Demma Gvasalia, Balenciaga’s creative director in 2014, what began as an elusive streetwear brand soon caught the eyes of celebrities, influencers, and fashion lovers throughout the world.

The clothes and footwear from Vetements range from showcasing a certain grandeur to something that you would wear to run errands in. One of the favorite items from Vetements includes their oversized hoodie. It has been worn by celebs like Kylie Jenner, Rihanna, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, and Celine Dion.

Comme des Garçon

Many millennials must have heard of this Japanese streetwear label founded by Rei Kawabuko. Although founded in 1969, the brand still has a strong presence in the fashion industry today. The name is French for “like boys” and it offers clothing, fragrances, and several collections including the best-selling luxury line, Comme des Garçon Play. This luxury line is most known for its logo featuring a red-colored heart and two eyes.

Comme des Garçon has been seen gracing Kanye West, Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake, and the most iconic sighting, Lady Gaga in her Comme des Garçon dress from the Fall 2012 collection. Due to the high praises received by Comme des Garçon’s clothing line, Rei Kawabuko was revealed to be the subject of a fashion exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
