For many months now, Kendrick Lamar has been teasing the world with his new collaboration with Nike. Last October, the Grammy-award winning rapper tweeted a photo of his sneaker design and all sneakerheads and fans just went ballistic. Finally, Lamar has officially unveiled his new Nike shoe and it's a much better look than his twitter photo.

This new Kendrick Lamar x Nike collaboration dubbed "Don't Trip", is a new take on the classic Nike Cortez in red, white, and black with signature Lamar features. What would probably catch your attention is the strip of shoelace tag with the words "Don't Trip" from the last row of laces all the way up to the tongue. The letters "K" and "L" are emblazoned on the heel with the words Damn as an ode to his fourth album which was released this year.

On his personal Instagram account, he posted a photo with the caption "DON'T TRIP. CORTEZ KENNY" as a reference to his alter ego "Kung Fu Kenny" which explains the Chinese script written on the nose of the shoe. There's no word yet when this collaboration will drop but everyone's on their tippy toes waiting for it!

It's not the first time that Kendrick has collaborated with a sportswear brand. Back in 2014, he designed a shoe for Reebok which is an iteration of the Reebok Ventilator. This Reebok shoe pays homage to the classics with an off-white, almost cream color and made from premium pigskin nubuck.

The shoe may look simple on the outside but a lot of thought is put into the design. On the heel, the words "BLUE" and "RED" imprinted which represents the gang colors of Lamar's hometown Compton. The words "NEUTRAL" are written on the inside of the tongue with the hopes to end gang-related violence and the hate.

Besides creating footwear for massive brands, Kendrick has recently collaborated with N.E.R.D. for the song “Don’t Don’t Do It!” and is set to Europe with James Blake in 2018 for his Damn tour.
