Must Have PC Games Available on Steam

Because of Steam being used as widespread as it is, there are some games that you just have to own. Not sure what they are? Here are some of the best Steam games out there that everyone needs to give a chance.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

An open world role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios, the Elder Scrolls: Skyrim is the fifth instalment of The Elder Scrolls series. Something of a critically acclaimed classic in the gaming world, it is widely considered one of the greatest video games ever and comes highly recommended with over 30 million copies sold worldwide.

The main storyline revolves around your player character’s quest to defeat Alduin the World-Eater, a dragon that will one day destroy the world. But as an open world game with plenty of side quests, players often find themselves distracted by independent goals and the development of their character.

Portal 2

A platformer puzzle game, Portal 2 is a first-person video game developed by Valve Corporation. The sequel to Portal, the game does not disappoint fans of the original and delivers a game with a compelling storyline, even-paced delivery, and fantastically dark humour.

Play as Chell in the single-player campaign and solve puzzles with the goal of exploring the Aperture Science Laboratory. You are aided by the use of the “portal gun”, a device that can create two linked portals no matter the distance and travel between them with ease. The two player co-cop mode has two players as robots that control separate portal guns.

Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley is a farming simulation role-playing game that many have said to be reminiscent to childhood classic Harvest Moon. Developed and programmed solely by Eric Barone and published by Chucklefish Games, Stardew Valley is one of the more popular indie games available on Steam.

Play as a new-in-town farmer and manage your time between your farm and your characters’ relationships with the towns’ villagers. As a farmer, you can raise livestock, plant and harvest crops, craft goods, or even go mining, as well as romance villagers as you complete the game's loose story line. An open-ended game, Stardew Valley has received positive reactions from players and critics and, within months of its release, was one of Steams highest-selling titles.

Counter Strike: Global Offense

Developed by Hidden Path Entertainment and Valve Corporation, Counter-Strike: Global Offense, also colloquially known as CS: GO, is a multiplayer first-person shooter game that pits player against player in highly competitive online matches. Players play as either Terrorists or Counter-Terrorists, tasked with the goal of eliminating the other teams while simultaneously completing objectives like planting bombs or defending hostages.

Receiving plenty of positive reactions and reviews from critics and players alike, CS: GO remains faithful to its previous iterations but with improvements, much to the pleasure of long time fans.

Outlast 2

Developed and published by Red Barrels, Outlast 2 is a first-person horror survival game. The long-awaited sequel to Outlast and Outlast: Whistleblower, both of which were popular games in their own right, Outlast 2 was an instant hit on Steam the moment it was available for purchase.

The story follows journalist Blake Langermann and his wife Lynn, who are in Arizona desert following the mysterious story of Jane Doe, a pregnant woman found dead in the desert. Run, hide, walk, slide, climb, and film your way through the game as you try to survive as anon-combatant and uncover the game's storyline.
