Founded in 1982 in Copenhagen, Denmark, by Danish goldsmith Per Enevoldsen and his wife Winnie, Pandora started off as a family-run jewellery shop. It was a small scale operation of importing jewellery from Thailand and selling it to consumers. After several successful years as wholesalers, in 1989, they hired their first in-house designer and established a manufacturing site in Thailand.
Being vertically integrated, they could provide high quality, hand finished jewellery to mass markets. Their collection expanded and in 2000, their signature charm bracelet was launched in the Danish market. With growing demand, they expanded to the United States in 2003 and Australia in 2004. Pandora became the third largest jewellery company in terms of sales, after Cartier and Tiffany & Co. In 2011, it was estimated that more than one piece of Pandora jewellery was sold every second on average.
Pandora’s mission is to offer women worldwide a universe of high quality, hand-finished jewellery at affordable prices, inspiring women to express their individuality. All women have their own stories to tell -- a personal collection of special moments that makes them who they are. The right piece of jewellery celebrates these moments and those moments become unforgettable.
