Grace Lam makes a striking debut as Baby, a remorseless prostitute who is determined to make a fortune - even if it's at the cost of her body! Her experiences are in direct contrast to "Mamasan" Julia (Liz Kong), who's grown weary of prostitution, and is looking to marriage as a possible escape from the uncertain and sometimes harrowing PR Girl life. Meanwhile, fellow club girl Kwan (Angela Tong) is deep in debt, and the shy Matilda (Sherming Yiu) is deathly afraid of the male sex organ! Add that to some decidedly wacky customers - and even some unexpected danger - and you have an insightful and entertaining glimpse at a life seldom seen! The girls are charming and sexy, and director Matt Chow brings style and intelligence to his off-color subject matter. Mei Ah Lee Rock (1991) (VCD) (Hong Kong Version)

Andy Lau delivers a powerful performance in Lee Rock I, the first of two films chronicling the true story of one Hong Kong police officer's rise to power. Lee Rock (Andy Lau) is a barely-literate street kid who joins the police force only to learn a rough lesson: the goal of being a cop is to gain promotions, and not necessarily to protect and serve. Bribes and kickbacks are a part of the game, and to try and remain clean is to invite isolation and poverty. Lee Rock tries to stick to his personal ideals anyway. But his righteousness earns him derision of the fellow cops and even causes him to lose his beloved fiancee Rose (Chingmy Yau)! Eventually, Lee Rock becomes determined to become Chief of Police to affect change from within, but the obstacles are great. His corrupt superior (Paul Chun) is looking to destroy him, and his new flame Grace (Sharla Cheung) happens to be the daughter of a top gangster! Can Lee Rock make it to the top without tarnishing his very soul? Andy Lau earned a Best Actor Nomination for his performance as the title character in Lee Rock, a tense and intelligent motion picture that brings true-to-life drama to the Hong Kong police genre. Followed by the sequel Lee Rock II, which features the return of Chingmy Yau, and also Aaron Kwok as Lee Rock's son!

Mei Ah Whispers And Moans (VCD) (Hong Kong Version)
RM 37.80
A featured world premiere at the 31st Hong Kong International Film Festival, Whispers and Moans is yet another change-up from versatile director Herman Yau. The director of the cult Category III chiller The Untold Story, Yau brings us a different sort of Category III film this time: an adult-themed social drama about the stark realities behind Hong Kong's prostitution trade. Joining Yau is a strong cast, including Athena Chu (A Chinese Odyssey Part II), Candace Yu (2 Young), and Monie Tung (My Mother is a Belly Dancer), plus singers Patrick Tang, Yan Ng, Mandy Chiang, and Don Li - who defies expectations in a role as a transvestite prostitute saving for a sex change operation. Based on a book of interviews with real-life Hong Kong prostitutes, Whispers and Moans is an unexpected, intelligent, and human portrait of the city and its unique culture.

Coco (Athena Chu) is a veteran mamasan, whose career in the sex trade industry has seen better days. Coco discovers that one of her regular johns is seeing transvestite prostitute Jo (Don Li), and another one (Kenny Wong) is starting to develop an interest in other working girls. Even worse, Coco contracts a venereal disease, and discovers that she may have infected her young daughter. Club girl Nana (Mandy Chiang) receives a marriage proposal from her longtime boyfriend, who unfortunately has no idea what she does for a living. Her sister Aida (Monie Tung) is in even worse straits; having lost her standing at the hostess club due to her drug use, Aida descends to the role of streetwalker. With Mainland prostitutes attracting more customers, and the hostess club in danger of closing down, where can these career working girls find hope? Meanwhile, a social worker (Yan Ng) shows up at the club, proposing a "Sex Workers Union" to restore dignity to the working girl life...

Mei Ah Kungfu Cyborg: Metallic Attraction (VCD) (Hong Kong Version) at 42.20 MYR from YesAsia
Mei Ah Kungfu Cyborg: Metallic Attraction (VCD) (Hong Kong Version)
RM 42.20
Touted as China's first big sci-fi film, Kungfu Cyborg: Metallic Attraction actually squeezes many more genres into its loaded storyline. It's also a martial arts actioner, a buddy cop comedy, a romantic comedy, a melodrama, and a special effects robot fight-off! The latest from director Jeff Lau, who showed he could mesh genres like no other in the Stephen Chow classic A Chinese Odyssey, Kungfu Cyborg is set in a near future where state-of-the-art robots have been developed by the government, but one particular robot decides to challenge the authority of its creators.

Alex Fong Lik Sun (I Corrupt All Cops) takes on his biggest role to date as a cyborg cop whose abilities to fight and love are tested. Acclaimed actor Hu Jun (Red Cliff) makes a rare comedic appearance as his reluctant partner, and romantic rival for the hand of Betty Sun (Painted Skin). Supporting players Ronald Cheng, Eric Tsang, Law Ka Ying, and Gan Wei furnish more laughs, but the kung-fu part of the title is taken care of by action director Yuen Tak (Fong Sai Yuk, Swordsman II) and martial arts star Wu Jing (Legendary Assassin) as a too cool rogue robot. The impressive animation and special effects that went into creating the film's battling robots and inventive action scenes have earned Kungfu Cyborg: Metallic Attraction comparisons to Transformers.

Built by the state to fight crime, coifed super cyborg K-1 (Alex Fong) is stationed in the countryside under the supervision of self-righteous cop Dachun (Hu Jun), who's less than thrilled about the arrangement. Dachun wants to be the hero, not baby-sit a robot, especially one that shows him up and starts making eyes at his long-time crush, policewoman Su Mei (Betty Sun). What Dachun and Su Mei don't know, however, is that K-1's program doesn't allow him to love. Amid the romantic scheming, dangerous rogue cyborg K-88 (Wu Jing) suddenly rolls into town.

Mei Ah La Comedie humaine (Blu-ray) (Hong Kong Version)
RM 155.70
Art and life thoroughly imitate each other in the hilarious Hong Kong comedy La Comedie Humaine. A fresh, conceptual take on the tired hitman genre, the Chan Hing-Ka/Janet Chun film is led by one of the least likely actors to play a professional killer on the big screen: Chapman To. The funnyman manages to give the comedic performance of his career as a Mainland Chinese assassin who also happens to love the movies. To is paired with the equally hilarious Wong Cho Lam, who puts his over-the-top mannerisms to good use as a scriptwriter that strikes up an unlikely friendship with his deadly visitor. The two are also joined by a game cast that includes longtime character actor Hui Siu Hung (also a Johnnie To regular), Fiona Sit (2 Young), and popular young model Kama Lo (Poker King). Praised by Hong Kong audiences, La Comedie Humaine became a true Hong Kong hit in the summer of 2010 thanks to its irreverent humor and the two lead actors' passionate efforts to support the film, which included cinema visits to thank audiences throughout Hong Kong.

Mainland Chinese hitman Spring (Chapman To) arrives in Hong Kong with his manager Setting Sun (Hui Siu Hung). However, when various complications separate them, Spring is taken in by nice-guy scriptwriter Soya (Wong Cho Lam), who tends to his new visitor perhaps a little too well. After several failed attempts to kill him, Spring slowly warms up to Soya, and the two become friends. Spring slowly adjusts to his new life in Hong Kong with his new friend, and even helps him fix his dysfunctional relationship with neurotic girlfriend Tin Oi (Fiona Sit). However, when Setting Sun finds his prot g , he forces Spring to abandon all personal attachments, including his friendship with troubled pregnant teenager Maggie (Kama Lo).

Mei Ah Fallen Angels (VCD) (Remastered Edition) (Hong Kong Version)
RM 33.30
In Chungking Express, director Wong Kar Wai delivered a breezy, effervescent look at two cops falling in and out of love amidst Hong Kong's alienating urban cityscape. Fallen Angels takes the styles and themes presented in Chungking Express and pushes them even further, delving deeper into Hong Kong's sleepless nights to find characters who've truly fallen from grace. Leon Lai is a disaffected hitman who enters a relationship of convenience with a heartbroken flirt (Karen Mok), while his emotionally damaged partner (Michelle Reis) pines for him silently. Meanwhile, a mute child-like grifter (Takeshi Kaneshiro), finds one-sided love with a brassy young woman (Charlie Young), who's also suffering from a broken heart. As Hong Kong's neon nights drag on, these five desperate souls crisscross and collide in hilarious, romantic, and completely surprising ways. Featuring gorgeous cinematography from Christopher Doyle, and a hip soundtrack from Frankie Chan and Roel A. Garcia, Fallen Angels is a dark, stylish and undeniably cinematic portrait of Hong Kong that ranks among Wong Kar Wai's most stunning works!

Six strong guys join their strengths in a comedy about the weaknesses of men!

Malcolm, Ben, Long and Chai meet up on the rooftop of an office tower, not for a date, but for an unusual suicide plan. The four men, driven to the edge by life's inescapable problems and stresses, are going to jump off the building in an angry protest against the miserable lives of men. But before they take the leap of their life, they have agreed to give themselves three hours to say their last goodbyes... They are in for a big surprise when two more unexpected "guests" (with the same suicidal intent) join them to share a men-to-men, heart-to-heart talk.

Hard-working Long (Ekin Cheng) feels dejected in life because he works long hours (7-11pm) and still gets mentally abused by his scolding boss, Rico (George Lam) while unemployed Cai (Chapman To) is torn between his career-driven wife (Huang Yi) and his first sweetheart lover (Karena Lam). A carefree player of the game of love, Malcolm (Andy Hui) is disturbed to find that a woman secretly bares his baby and selfish Ben (Hacken Lee) rather chooses death over marrying his eight-year girlfriend (Candy Lo).

Director Barbara Wong, mostly known for the movie Women's Private Parts, maintains her admirable outspoken and direct nature in filming Six Strong Guys exploring the inner worlds of men with a strong ensemble cast. Six strong guys can sure make one strong movie!

Fresh off her startling debut performance in 2 Young, singer/actress Fiona Sit teamed with Taiwanese TV star Dylan Kuo (The Outsiders) for the romantic drama Embrace Your Shadow. Usual romantic comedy director Joe Ma Wai Ho (Feel 100%, Love Undercover), Embrace Your Shadow tells the story of Ran (Fiona Sit), a young woman who meets small-time thief Juchin (Dylan Kuo) after he inadvertently cares for Ran's six-year old niece Shiayou. Against his better judgement, Juchin begins a charitable existence, spending time with Ran, Shiayou, and Shiayou's father Feng (Cheung Kwok Keung), who suffers from a rare disease that results in paralysis. Ran may be in line for a similar fate, so Juchin puts his life on the line to find the money to pay for an operation. But when the triads come for Juchin's head, will he be able to hold them off long enough to save his newfound lady love? A subdued and gentle romance tinged with tragic triad thriller overtones, Embrace Your Shadow further demonstrates the talent for drama that director Joe Ma displayed in his acclaimed Funeral March. Mei Ah Red Cliff 2 (Blu-ray) (Hong Kong Version)
RM 133.50
After breaking box-office records with the 2008 release of Red Cliff, John Woo concludes his epic Three Kingdoms adaptation with Red Cliff 2. Tony Leung Chiu Wai (Infernal Affairs) and Kaneshiro Takeshi (Perhaps Love) return as Zhou Yu and Zhuge Liang, and Zhang Feng Yi (Farewell, My Concubine) acts up a storm as the power-hungry Cao Cao. Chang Chen (The Go Master), Vicki Zhao (Painted Skin), Hu Jun (Infernal Affairs 2) and Nakamura Shido (Fearless) lend support, with Taiwanese model Lin Chi Ling taking on an expanded role as the beautiful Xiao Qiao, and Mainland actor Tong Da Wei joining the cast as one of Cao Cao's soldiers.

Despite the all-star cast, the action sequences are the star of this sequel. Red Cliff 2 climaxes with a riveting and stunningly realized fire attack at the water port of Red Cliff, as Zhao Yu leads the aligned Wu and Shu forces in a desperate attempt to repel Cao Cao's forces. In between the bloodletting and pyrotechnics, John Woo weaves in his trademark themes of brotherhood and honor, finding as much space in the film for emotion and character as he does for explosions and swordplay. A satisfying and vastly entertaining counterpart to the first film, Red Cliff 2 is already one of 2009's Chinese cinema highlights.

Picking up where the first film left off, Red Cliff 2 finds Wu princess Sun Shang Xiang (Vicki Zhao) behind enemy lines. With the success of Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon, Hong Kong filmmaker Daniel Lee tackles another mind-blowing Chinese historical war epic! In White Vengeance, the acclaimed writer-director offers an intriguing reinterpretation of the Banquet at Hongmen, the decisive incident that took place in the turbulent years of the Chu-Han Contention following the fall of the Qin dynasty some 2,200 years ago. Leon Lai (Forever Enthralled) stars as ambitious rebel leader Liu Bang, who is invited to the banquet hosted by his arch-rival Xiang Yu, played against type by TV idol William Feng (Palace). As the focal point of this intense and thrilling historical tale, the banquet becomes a deadly battle of wits and guts between the two contending heroes and their aides, played by Anthony Wong (Punished), Zhang Hanyu (Assembly), and Jordon Chan (Once a Gangster). In addition, the star-studded cast also boasts the presence of Andy On (True Legend) as Liu Bang's military ally Han Xin, and Crystal Liu (A Chinese Ghost Story) as Xiang Yu's lover Yuji.

Although Liu Bang's Han army reaches Xianyang first, he knows that he is no match for the powerful Xiang Yu, so he prudently retreats and pledges allegiance to him. However, Xiang Yu's chief strategist Fan Zeng (Anthony Wong) recognizes Liu Bang's ambitions, and he decides to lay a trap in the guise of a banquet to uproot this threat once and for all. Liu Bang knows the hidden danger, but his loyal advisor Zhang Liang (Zhang Hanyu) urges him to attend the banquet no matter what, or risk being crushed mercilessly by Xiang Yu's mighty forces. Can Liu Bang escape the deadly plot at the banquet, and turn the tide in his favor?

It's Ahn Sung Ki as you've never seen him before! Sporting a boorish outfit and a scruffy hairdo, the veteran actor portrays an aging, freewheeling cop who reunites with his estranged son to take on police corruption. Featuring one of the most entertaining screen chemistries ever seen in a Korean buddy cop film, My New Partner also casts Jo's real-life brother Jo Han Joon as the young Jo Han Sun. Offering non-stop rollercoaster action and witty, in-your-face dialogue My New Partner is one thrill ride you won't want to miss.

Art and life thoroughly imitate each other in the hilarious Hong Kong comedy La Comedie Humane. Praised by Hong Kong audiences, La Comedie Humane became a true Hong Kong hit in the summer of 2010 thanks to its irreverent humor and the two lead actors' passionate efforts to support the film, which included cinema visits to thank audiences throughout Hong Kong.

Mei Ah Naraka 19 (VCD) (Hong Kong Version)
RM 37.80
Based on a popular Internet novel, Naraka 19 is a horror thriller with a unique modern twist. For the first time since 49 Days, Gillian Chung of Twins takes on a lead film role as Rain, a student who checks into her university dorm room only to discover that it has a troubled and ominous history. Ten years prior, a student named Gao Yuan (Jones Xu) committed suicide in the room, and the resulting psychic scars run deep. Rain's roommates begin getting text messages on their mobile phones inviting them to play a special game, where they must traverse the 18 levels of Hell in order to reach the fabled "Naraka 19". However, the price for not passing a level is madness or even death! In order to uncover the game's secret, as well as her friends' fates, Rain agrees to join the game. Suddenly, she finds herself in a dark and fantastic world, surrounded by demons and otherworldly creatures, with only her wits and her surprisingly handy mobile phone to point the way home.

The original fiction for Naraka 19 has attained quite a following online, resulting in some concerns from fans about how the film version would turn out. Allaying those fears is director Carol Lai, who follows up her last horror film, the under-appreciated The Third Eye with this new effort, utilizing state-of-the-art CG effects to render the fantastic levels of Hell visited by Rain and her roommates. The effects resemble those from the Pang Brothers hit Re-cycle, with hidden psychological pains bringing grisly imagery and the threat of violence to each character's individual Hell. Backing Gillian Chung is a promising cast, including Patrick Tam (Beast Cops), Shaun Tam (Star Runner), Yan Ng (Whispers and Moans), new EEG singer Vincy, models Maggie Li and Bonnie Xian, and finally Gillian Chung's Twin partner, Charlene Choi, in a very special cameo.

Up-and-coming Hong Kong director Derek Kwok follows his acclaimed debut feature The Pye-Dog with the gritty crime and action drama The Moss. Building on overlapping threads and conflicted characters, Kwok applies the narrative style and earthy aesthetics of The Pye-Dog to a much more harrowing and ambitious story. Popular actor Shawn Yue (Invisible Target) gives it his brooding best as a desperate, crooked cop caught between the law, squaring off against long-time-no-see action star Louis Fan Siu Wong (Story of Ricky). In addition to familiar supporting players Eric Tsang, Liu Kai Chi, and Shaun Tam, Kwok fills out the rest of his cast with some less likely names, including Shaw Brothers actress Siu Yam Yam who returned to screens last year in The Pye-Dog, rotund actor Ho Sai Man from Hollywood Hong Kong, and Hong Kong-Indian TV personality Gill Mohindepaul Singh.

Former undercover cop Jan (Shawn Yue) may be back on the force, but his life hasn't improved much. He spends most of his days plying the seedy streets of Kowloon, mixing with the triads and participating in the occasional brothel raid. When there's a shakeup in the underworld involving his former boss Tong (Liu Kai Chi), Jan gets unwittingly pulled into the line of fire. By the time the dust settles, Tong is dead, Jan's prostitute girlfriend (Bonnie Xian, Naraka 19) is comatose, and his girlfriend's teenage cousin Fa (newcomer Shi Xueyi) has been kidnapped - all the work of a homeless hitman (Fan Siu Wong). Jan has a dangerous score to settle with the hitman, but he's not the only one on the hunt.

Mei Ah Project Makeover (VCD) (English Subtitled) (Hong Kong Version)
RM 42.20
Contrary to what one may gather from the title, Korea's latest romantic comedy Project Makeover is not about changing appearances, but rather changing fates. Life is always full of "what ifs", and this film asks a simple question: what if you could go back in time to your first love? Knowing how things work out in the decade following, what would you do differently? First-time director Kim Chang Rae, who previously served as assistant director on the blockbuster Friend, spins a fun and interesting story in Operation Makeover (a.k.a. Project Makeover and Go Go Sister), topped with a hearty dose of 90s nostalgia. Actress Ko So Young (Apartment) and her younger counterpart Jo An (Holiday) present delightful portraits of the same woman at different ages. Backdropped by the music of popular 90s group DEUX, Operation Makeover revisits first love and reckless youth through a bumpy journey of romance and self-discovery.

Jeong Ju (Ko So Young) is a disgruntled 30-year-old woman with no boyfriend and a go-nowhere job. Bitter with how her life has turned out, she traces all her misfortunes to her first love Hani (singer Kim Jung Min in a cameo), a playboy who broke her heart and is now a famous singer. One day, she bumps into her high school friend Tae Hoon (Lee Bum Soo), who used to be a nerd but is now a rich and successful businessman. Jeong Ju knows that her life would be so much better if only she had fallen for the right guy in her teenage years. Unexpectedly, a chance to right wrongs comes up when a mysterious computer program transports Jeong Ju back in time to 1994. She is determined to show her 18-year-old self (Jo An) the correct path in life. Free-spirited teenaged Jeong Ju, however, is a lot more interested in the disingenuous Hani (Lee Joong Moon) than the doting Tae Hoon (Yoo Gun, Hello God), and she will not be so easily swayed.

Mei Ah Here Comes Fortune (VCD) (Hong Kong Version)
RM 42.20
An under-appreciated entry among the Chinese New Year films of 2010, Here Comes Fortune is nonetheless a typical crowd-pleaser with all the essential elements of a Spring Festival fare: family-friendly comedy, a storyline that involves buckets of money, and an ensemble cast packed with celebrities. Written and directed by James Yuen, the fantasy romantic comedy boasts a star-studded cast headed by Canto-pop icon Alan Tam, who dons the costume of the God of Fortune and leads his fellow money gods Kitty Zhang (CJ7) and Lam Tze Chung (Shaolin Soccer) to earth. "Principal" Tam's mission is to help a hapless office lady (Hong Kong diva Miriam Yeung) to achieve success in life, but an accident renders him without memories and magic powers. Lam Tze Chung transforms into a 10-year-old girl to reward $100 million to a good-hearted nurse (Mainland actress Tao Hong), while Kitty Zhang gives blind pianist (Taiwan actor Chang Chen) something more valuable than gold. Along the way they meet other characters played by Sandrine Pinna, Carl Ng, Richard Ng, Ella Koon, Cheng Pei Pei, Kenneth Tsang, Wu Ma, Lee Lik Chi, Tin Kai Man, Tats Lau, Vincent Kok...and tons more cameos that could outnumber 72 Tenants of Prosperity!

Mei Ah Embrace Your Shadow (DTS Version) (Hong Kong Version)
RM 55.60
As the young lovers, Fiona Sit and Dylan Kuo turn in photogenic, surprisingly mature performances.

People can't seem to stop dropping dead in the inventive star-studded black comedy Split Second Murders! Herman Yau ensures that Hong Kong Cinema is alive and kicking with his third theatrical feature of 2009. This time he directs an ensemble cast with more singers and idols than you can shake a stick at including 6 Wing and C Kwan of Fama, Andy Hui, Kay Tse, it-girl Chrissie Chau, Candy Lo, Stephanie Cheng, William Chan, Pakho Chow, Terence Siufay, MC Jin, Deep Ng, Chet Lam, Vincy Chan, Deep Ng, Wilfred Lau, Wylie Chiu, Charmaine Fong, Bonnie Xian, and Carlos Chan, plus Fan Siu Wong and Maggie Siu as a feuding triad couple. The cast is huge but don't get too attached, because Yau kills them off enmasse in hilariously unexpected manners. This is a story in which no one should have died ... but in the end many people died!

Unemployed comic book artist Luk (6 Wing) is not having a good day. His girlfriend (Charmaine Fong) just left him, and he's off to pitch his latest work to a publisher that turns out be very sketchy. The editor (MC Jin) wants Luk to add more gratuitous violence and deaths to his story, which he does in amusing manner. After the meeting, Luk goes about his business as normal, but he finds that everywhere he goes he encounters strange conflicts that lead to gratuitous violence and deaths.

The Love Undercover franchise gets a new leading lady for Love Undercover 3! With Fong Lai-Keun (Miriam Yeung) off in Europe watching the World Cup, her commanding officer Chung Sir (Hui Siu Hung) needs a new pet project to occupy his time. Enter Fan Shi-Wao (Fiona Sit), an ultra-perky delivery girl who saves Chung and his team from an auto accident. As a reward, Chung shepherds Fan through cadet school, and allows her to join his largely useless cop team. But Interpol efficiency expert Suzuki (Japanese heartthrob Suzuki Takuya) has a special assignment for Fan: to go undercover on her own team to report on Chung's time-wasting ways! Will Fan sell out her own colleagues for a chance at love with Suzuki?

Director Joe Ma (Feel 100%, the first two Love Undercover films) brings his trademark style of comedy to this summer 2006 comedy hit. The film features the debut comic performance of Fiona Sit, who turned heads with her dramatic performance in Derek Yee's 2005 drama 2 Young. Sit is supported by returning cast members Hui Siu Hung, Raymond Wong Ho Yin, and Commercial Radio DJ Sammy, who even dresses up like a Japanese geisha for one sequence. Numerous silly gags and wacky jokes populate Love Undercover 3, and Sit and her co-stars gamely navigate the off-the-wall chaos. Even without Miriam Yeung, Love Undercover 3 is surefire, laugh-out-loud law enforcement fun!
