Haute couture French pastry shop
If you loved French pastries, chocolates, confectioneries, and especially the colorful macaroons, you probably have heard of the famous Parisian shop, Ladurèe, the macaroon house of the world. Created in 1862 by Louis Ernest Ladurèe, Ladurèe is a bakery turned into a pastry shop and became one of the first to combine pleasure with gourmet desserts. Later, it was converted into a tea room and was the first tea room in Rue Royale, Paris, where French women and men will come into the tea room to share a plate of dessert together while gossiping to one another.
Ladurèe is famous for its pastry, the macaroons, rounded delight, both crunchy and delightful, which is made from a secret recipe that has been passed down for generations. Macaroons soon became the representation of a fine cuisine culinary lavishness. The macaroons made at Ladurèe are favored by the French due to its consistency of the macaroon shells surrounding the ganache while maintaining its texture, color and flavor.
In 1992, Ladurèe was acquired by the Holder Group and the son of the president of the group, David Holder, took over Ladurèe, by restoring the image of the Tea House, keeping the Rue Royale address and opens a second tea room on the Avenue des Champs Elysèes in 1997. As word begins to spread among the French and tourist alike, Ladurèe begin to extend their collection to include the highly demanded secrets and Beauty line of delicate Gift products such as scented candles, home fragrances, high-end chocolates, powders and bath salts that feature the smell of the French pastry.
Today, Ladurèe stores are present in major countries such as Monaco, Switzerland, Japan, Italy, Lebanon, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Luxembourg, Kuwait, USA, and Ireland. In 2012, Ladurèe begin to expand the stores in other countries such as Brazil, Sweden, Australia, as well as Hong Kong and Seoul.
Ladurèe brings the brand to a whole new level by introducing the first makeup by Ladurèe, inspired by the colors of the macaroons, courtesy of the collaboration with French’s finest jeweler, Marie- Hèlene de Taillac. The limited edition makeup palette includes the 20 different blush colors, based on the best-selling macaroon flavors, personally picked by de Taillac: Chocolate, cassis violet, rose petal, lemon, orange blossom and pistachio.
The makeup set also includes liquid foundation and lip color. The brightly colored confection is an acknowledgement to the designer’s rainbow gems. The box itself portrays the jeweler’s “Rainbow” necklace, highlighting the gold sequins and the multicolored gemstones. To commemorate the collaboration, Marie-Hèlene de Taillac inspired window will be installed at one of the Ladurèe’s stores in Tokyo, Japan and in Paris. The makeup set is retailed at USD$24 and is sold at major departmental stores as well as Ladurèe’s stores.
