How to keep your kitchen sinks clean

We would expect the kitchen sink to be the most spotless surface as we clean a lot of things in it. From food to kitchen utensils, these things often come into contact with your mouth. However, if you’re not careful, it will attract a lot of germs. To prevent this from happening, it is advisable to have your kitchen sink cleaned regularly. Here are ways you can keep it clean.

Give it a good scrub

Although soap and water flow through the sinks frequently, it does not mean that it is clean. Soap deposits, food stains, rust, and water spots will build up overtime. It is recommended to have the bathroom sink scrubbed after approximately 30 uses. A simple recipe for a spotless sink is to mix dishwashing liquid into a bowl of lukewarm water. Utilise a sponge and scrub the kitchen sink gently. For a more thorough cleaning, you may make use of an all-purpose cleaning spray.

Unclog the sink drain

To do so, simply mix up a cup of baking soda with a cup of salt and ¼ cup cream of tartar. You may keep the solution in an airtight container so that it can be re-used. The recommended times you should pour the solution is every couple of weeks. Firstly, pour ½ a cup of mixture down the drain, followed by a quart of boiling water.

Prevent scratches and stains on your sink

Kitchen sinks are prone to get scratched after awhile of usage. It is also rather pricey to have a kitchen sink replaced. There are many ways to keep it in tip-top condition such as installing a perforated plastic mat at the bottom of the sink. This will protect the sink’s surface from any scratches as well as dishes too. Sinks made from porcelain should not have acidic foods lingering on the surface as long-term exposure can cause it to stain as well as etch the surface.

Get rid of rust with WD-40

Rust is a problem even with stainless steel sinks. To effectively remove rust, wipe WD-40 on the spot with a cloth and rinse thoroughly. If you want to remove rust stains on porcelain enamel sinks, simply pour salt on a lemon-half and rub it on the stain.

De-stain with lemon or vinegar

Sinks can be easily stained and in order to erase those spots, make a paste by mixing powdered borax and lemon juice. Once the mixture is mixed well, you may utilise a sponge to rub it onto the stain. It also works on other sinks that is made of porcelain, stainless, steel, or any other material.

For a complete kitchen, you may equip it with bakeware, kitchen storage, cookware, food warmers and more!
