Z Storm director David Lam and leading man Louis Koo return for the sequel S Storm, an exciting crime thriller again centered around the workings of the ICAC, Hong Kong's corruption watchdog law enforcement agency. Corruption within another quintessential Hong Kong institution, the city's official horse racing and betting operator Jockey Club, sets off a long and sinister trail of crime, conspiracy and collusion that runs far deeper than meets the eye. Adding to the local appeal is a cast filled with former TVB stars including Julian Cheung, Bowie Lam, Ada Choi and Shek Sau, as well as Lo Hoi Pang, Dada Chen and Taiwan actor Vic Chou. ICAC agent Luk (Louis Koo) is investigating the case of a Jockey Club trader suspected of accepting bribes and fixing sports betting odds. The suspect, however, gets murdered in broad daylight by a hitman (Vic Chou), and Luk is the only witness. Detective Lau (Julian Cheung) is put in charge of the murder case, but in a classic example of ICAC and police deadlock, he is unable to get much information out of Luk. The two agencies delve into the victim's connection with illegal bookmaking operations and discover that there is a mysterious and ruthless big boss pulling the strings.

The acclaimed 2008 crime thriller The Beast Stalker solidified director Dante Lam's status as the new king of Hong Kong action cinema. He and his writer Jack Ng return two years later on the thematic follow-up The Stool Pigeon, which again delivers in the pulse-raising action, breathtaking suspense, and heart-rending characterization that pulls the audience into the compelling drama and surprising plot twists. Again treading the gray area between right and wrong, the Stalker stars Nick Cheung and Nicholas Tse have a reversal of roles in Stool. Winning an unprecedented seven Best Actor awards in the last outing, Cheung is a conflicted cop struggling between his duty and conscience this time as Nicholas Tse becomes the two-bit criminal forced to cooperate with him as his stool pigeon. Joining them are Taiwan actress Guey Lun Mei and Mainland actor Lu Yi, who both play against type as tough gangsters. Stalker's Liu Kai Chi, Miao Pu, and Sherman Chung return to co-star in the tense and gritty caper hit, while Chin Ka Lok and Wong Wai Fai, the action choreographer team behind Lam's Fire of Conscience earlier this year, are responsible for the film's thrilling car chases and visceral fight scenes. Many of the original's cast members come back for the second serving, including Nick Cheung and Nicholas Tse as a conflicted cop and the informant he put in dire situations, respectively. For the Original Soundtrack album of The Stool Pigeon, the first film's composer Henry Lai (Echoes of the Rainbow, Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon) is brought back to conjure up another musical masterpiece. Derek Yee (One Nite in Mongkok) directs action superstar Jackie Chan in Shinjuku Incident, a gripping and violent crime thriller that ranks among 2009's most eagerly anticipated Hong Kong films. Chan takes on a rare dramatic role as a Chinese immigrant who becomes inexorably tied to the Japanese mob. No stranger to tough drama, Yee gives Shinjuku Incident an added relevance with his exploration of Chinese migrants fending for themselves in Tokyo's seedy Shinjuku district. Aiding Yee is an impressive Asian cast, starting with Chan and including Hong Kong's Daniel Wu (Prot g ), China's Fan Bing Bing (Lost in Beijing) and Xu Jing Lei (Warlords), and Japan's Takenaka Naoto (Shall We Dance?) and Kato Masaya (Brother). Before its successful spring theatrical run, Shinjuku Incident served as the opening film at the 33rd Hong Kong International Film Festival. Chinese laborer Steelhead (Jackie Chan) illegally arrives in Japan to search of his missing sweetheart Xiu Xiu (Xu Jing Lei), only to discover that she's married to rising Yakuza boss Eguchi (Kato Masaya). Determined to survive in Tokyo's underbelly, Steelhead unites the Chinese migrants, establishing their own community to protect themselves from the oppressive Japanese and foreign gangs. Steelhead even finds new love with bar owner Lily (Fan Bing Bing), and earns the favor of the righteous Inspector Kitano (Takenaka Naoto). However, the Chinese antagonize the entrenched Taiwanese gangsters, leading Steelhead to forge an alliance with Eguchi. As a Yakuza enforcer, Steelhead earns respect and even his own base of power. But Steelhead's Chinese brothers are corrupted by their newfound power, and an internal struggle within the Yakuza threatens their own position. All Steelhead wants is a return to simpler, honest times like he once shared with Xiu Xiu back in China. But it may now be too late

Johnnie To adds a satirical twist to his pet genre in the 2004 crime thriller Breaking News. Winning Best Director for To at the 41st Golden Horse Awards, this clever police drama features the director's signature thrilling gunplay and charismatic (anti)heroes, but differs from his other genre efforts with its satirical pokes at the media and fresh casting. For Breaking News, To departed from his usual actors to work with pop idol Kelly Chen (An Empress and the Warriors), Taiwan singer Richie Jen (Exiled), and Nick Cheung (Election), in what would be the first of many collaborations. Playing against his comedic image of the time, Nick Cheung stars as the brash cop pursuing Richie Jen's brazenly cool criminal. Kelly Chen portrays a police inspector trying to orchestrate the cops-and-robbers showdown into a media show, changing the nature of the game for both the police and the criminals. Johnnie To regulars Simon Yam, Maggie Siu, and Eddie Cheung also make appearances in the film. Breaking News opens with its most memorable scene, an amazing eight-minute one-take continuous shot following a team of thieves led by Yuan (Richie Jen) as they make their getaway and engage in multiple shootouts with the cops. The criminals' bold escape is all captured on camera, leading to a public outcry against police cowardice and incompetence. In steps Inspector Rebecca Fong (Kelly Chen) who proposes fixing this public relations nightmare by putting on another big show for the media: televising their capture of the criminals.

Jason Bourne is back. Matt Damon returns to the blockbuster Bourne Identity film series with The Bourne Ultimatum, the third in the successful trilogy of films based on the novels by Robert Ludlum. Ultimatum begins with amnesiac assassin Jason Bourne (Damon) escaping Moscow after the events of The Bourne Supremacy, but new memories are triggered, leading him on a globe-trotting chase to discover the truth behind his missing memories. Dogging him are operatives from his former US-government employers, led by CIA Deputy Director Noah Vosen (David Strathairn), attempting to silence Bourne before he can reveal their corrupt wrongdoings. With a number of assassins tracking him, Bourne travels from Paris to London, Madrid, Morocco, and finally back home, to New York City, where the truth of his origin will finally be revealed. The Bourne Ultimatum opened on August 3rd, 2007 in North America, and grossed $69.2 million during its opening weekend, a record for August. The film went on to outgross its predecessors, and was very well received by critics, with many claiming it to be the best of the trilogy. Director Paul Greengrass (United 93) mines his documentary filmmaking roots to give Ultimatum an edgy, kinetic feel, using plenty of handheld camera to bring the audience into Bourne's tense and paranoid world. With its no-nonsense approach, as well as its cast of accomplished actors (Joan Allen, Albert Finney, Julia Stiles), The Bourne Ultimatum is a rarity for Hollywood fare. It's a big-budget studio picture that employs actors and not stars, and a commercial thriller of uncommon intelligence and integrity. Still, when it comes to action, the film delivers, the highlights being a rooftop chase in Tangiers, and a white-knuckle car chase set in downtown New York City that outdoes the thrilling Moscow chase from The Bourne Supremacy.

A brutal serial killer is on the loose, and it's up to two very different homicide detectives to catch him in Memories of Murder, a riveting police procedural from Bong Joon Ho, director of The Host and Mother. Based on an actual series of events that began in 1986, the film centers on a rural cop named Park Do Mang (Song Kang Ho, from The Host and Thirst) and his tense partnership with Inspector Suh Tae Yoon (Kim Sang Kyung, Turning Gate), a big city detective fresh from Seoul. Detective Park, who'd much rather spend his time beating confessions out of suspects than be forced to do any actual detective work, mocks Suh, telling him that real Korean cops "investigate with their feet," not their intellect. But as the bodies begin to pile up, the two realize they have to reconcile their differences to stop the killer before he strikes again. However, with numerous leads that seemingly go nowhere, is there any chance they'll catch their man and finally put him behind bars? Or will their unceasing quest for justice actually push these heroes to their absolute breaking point? Unravel the truth in Memories of Murder, winner of Best Film, Best Director (Bong Joon Ho) and Best Actor (Song Kang Ho) at South Korea's Grand Bell Awards! Featuring performances by Kim Roi Ra, Song Jae Ho, Park No Shik, and Byun Hee Bong, this is one gripping crime thriller that's more than just another whodunit!

Korea's remake of the 2007 Hong Kong police thriller Eye in the Sky, Cold Eyes transplants the intense battle of wits and surveillance to the streets of Seoul. Sol Kyung Gu and Jung Woo Sung step into the opposing roles originally played by Simon Yam and Tony Leung Ka Fai a grisly surveillance unit leader and a coldly meticulous criminal mastermind. Also on the police surveillance team are Han Hyo Ju as the impulsive greenhorn and 2PM member Lee Jun Ho in his film debut. Co-directed by Jo Eui Seok (The World of Silence) and Kim Byung Seo, Cold Eyes is the rare remake that lives up to the original. The tense crime thriller stays true to the original's storyline while also setting itself apart in character and tone through strong performances, impeccable pacing and nerve-wracking chase scenes. After taking an on-site test, Yoon Joo (Han Hyo Ju) becomes the newest member of the police surveillance unit led by veteran Detective Hwang (Sol Kyung Gu). Through tracking devices and good old legwork, the unit's task is to gather intel for other teams by finding, following and observing suspects, but never engaging. While Yoon Joo's taking her test, elsewhere in town a bank robbery occurs in broad daylight. The entire job is orchestrated down to the last second by the leader of the group, James (Jung Woo Sung), who observes from a nearby rooftop and allows no mistakes. Detective Hwang and his team begin combing the area for the bank robbers, gradually narrowing the field and closing in on the suspects. James, however, catches scent of the police and stays one ruthless step ahead, escalating the cat-and-mouse game to life and death stakes. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Kadokawa Pictures revisited one of the studio's most famous films: Sailor Suit and Machine Gun. In 1981, Akagawa Jiro's classic pulp novel about a schoolgirl yakuza boss was adapted into a blockbuster hit starring Yakushimaru Hiroko that is remembered as one of the most iconic Japanese films of the eighties. The novel also inspired two TV dramas in 1982 and 2006 starring Harada Tomoyo and Nagasawa Masami, respectively. In 2016, teen singer-actress Hashimoto Kanna (Assassination Classroom) steps into the famous role of Hoshi Izumi in Sailor Suit and Machine Gun: Graduation, a spiritual sequel to the original story directed by Maeda Koji (Till Death Do Us What?). Co-starring Ando Masanobu (Gonin Saga) and Hasegawa Hiroki (Shin Godzilla), the crime thriller lives up to its predecessor by combining coming-of-age tropes with pulpy violence. Hoshi Izumi (Hashimoto Kanna) may look like your average high school girl, but she is actually the leader of the Medaka yakuza clan. She inherited the role after her uncle's death, but the gang has since disbanded as part of a peace pact with the rival Hamaguchi gang. Izumi and her three loyal lieutenants now run a cafe together in relative peace as she looks forward to graduation. However, Izumi soon discovers that another yakuza clan with designs on the turf is dealing a dangerous new drug and luring girls into the sex trade through a fake modeling agency. To protect her friends and hometown, Izumi must revive the Medaka once more. This edition comes with a postcard.

Please note this is a region B Blu-ray and will require a region B or region free Blu-ray player in order to play. The science-fiction thriller Minority Report, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Tom Cruise, is based on a short story by renowned writer Philip K. Dick. In the year 2054, in Washington, D.c., murder has been eliminated thanks to Precrime, a program that uses the visions of three psychics, called Pre-Cogs (an abbreviation for precognitive thinkers), to arrest and imprison would-be murderers before they have a chance to kill. Tom Cruise plays John Anderton, a Precrime enforcer who believes in the system for his own personal reasons--years back his young son was abducted, and he has dealt with the loss by becoming a high-strung Precrime officer. The director of Precrime (Max von Sydow) is eager to take the program national, and feels threatened by an ambitious federal agent (Colin Farrell) who is bent on finding a flaw in the system. When Anderton finds himself accused of the future murder of a man he's never met, his faith in Precrime is instantly shaken. He goes on the run, and is trailed by the relentless Precrime police. In the tradition of Blade Runner (also based on a Dick story), Minority Report is a dark, brooding vision of the future. Spielberg expertly mixes thrilling chase and suspense sequences (the best of which involves Anderton being pursued by eye-scanning mechanical spiders) and stunning special effects with a challenging look at society's willingness to sacrifice privacy and the notion of free will for convenience and security. Minority Report is a thought-provoking and exciting film that ranks with Spielberg's best. Special Features The Future According to Steven Spielberg (Hd) Inside The World of Precrime (Hd) Phillip K. The boxset contains both The Detective and The Detective 2 on Blu-ray. The Detective Aaron Kwok continues his streak of winning performances with Oxide Pang's The Detective. Set in Thailand, Kwok's latest outing is an immensely entertaining suspense thriller bearing the unmistakable Pang Bros. signature. Bolstered by atmospheric set design and commanding music, the film spins plentiful jumps and scares from an unsettling narrative that keeps the audience at the edge of their seats. Fresh off consecutive Best Actor wins at the Golden Horse Awards for Divergence and After This Our Exile, Kwok is perfectly charismatic and at ease as a laid-back Thai-Chinese detective pulled into a mysterious murder case. Kwok is supported by talented character actors Liu Kai Chi (Infernal Affairs 2), Kenny Wong (Gong Tau), Wayne Lai, Kiki Sheung, and Jo Koo, as well as long-time-no-see faces like Shing Fui On and former pop starlet Elle Choi. Holding shop from a small dinky office, near-sighted, debt-ridden private detective Tam (Aaron Kwok) talks big, but does small business. He gets an interesting new job when hard-drinking friend Lung (Shing Fui Oi) shows up one day with the picture of a woman whom he claims is trying to kill him. Unable to locate the woman, Tam starts looking up her acquaintances, but he seems to always be in the wrong place at the right time. At his first stop, he walks into a man hanging from the ceiling, the first of many dead bodies he stumbles upon. Tam becomes increasingly obsessed with finding the truth behind the mysterious deaths, but digging too deep could have dangerous consequences. The Detective 2 Four years after unwittingly cracking his first case, Aaron Kwok's inept private eye is back in action with an improved grade in the highly anticipated The Detective 2! Director Oxide Pang's stylish 2007 mystery was considered one of the best solo efforts from the Pang Brothers, and this time he returns to Bangkok with stars Aaron Kwok and Liu Kai Chi for an even more suspenseful adventure. Although the Asian horror-meister has surprisingly dispensed with the supernatural element of the first film, he isn't about to let up on the chill factor. The psychological crime thriller sequel has caught a group of new suspects for the supporting cast, including Patrick Tam, Eddie Cheung, Izz Xu (Child's Eye), and Mainland actress Gong Beibi. Bumbling private detective Chan Tam (Aaron Kwok) is enlisted by police pal Fung Chak (Liu Kai Chi) to help in the investigation of a serial murder case. The victims - a middle-aged man killed at home, a dead woman found in the trash dump, and a teenage girl slain in the park - were all killed in grisly manners, but they didn't seem related to each other. Without any clue to follow up on, Tam is decidedly at his wits' end. But when Chak is seriously wounded by a mysterious assailant, Tam deduces that the only way

After the acclaimed Japanese television drama and the stylish Korean film adaptation, director Fukugawa Yoshihiro takes his own crack at Higashino Keigo's hit novel Byakuyako. Unlike the Korean version's condensed, energetic take on the tale, Into the White Night tells its complex story of murder and past regrets in a more traditional, chronological fashion. Fukugawa first takes his time to set up the three protagonists - a woman climbing out of her tragic childhood, a man she once knew that has since become a criminal, and an obsessed detective that won't stop investigating an unsolved murder - before sending them on a tragic collision course. Horikita Maki (the Always - Sunset on Third Street series) takes on her most mature role yet as an opportunistic woman with skeletons in her closet, while Kora Kengo (Bandage) is both dangerous and charming as a mysterious criminal. An ambitious crime thriller spanning two decades, Into the White Night has been acclaimed by film critics since its world premiere at the 2010 Tokyo Film Festival. In 1980, a man has been found dead, and the police - led by detective Sasagaki (Funakoshi Eichiro) - believe he was killed by someone that they suspect to be his lover. The woman eventually kills herself, leaving her daughter Yukiho subjected to years of bullying. Meanwhile, the dead man's son Ryoji eventually descends into crime and a secluded life. 18 years later, Yukiho (Horikita Maki) and Ryoji (Kora Kengo) are now separately leading totally different lives, but the retired Sasagaki is finally starting to solve this complex puzzle, proving that Yukiho and Ryoji may be closer than they appear to be. This edition includes making of and more.

Besides the two award-winning Hong Kong actors, the film also co-stars Tong Liya, Mavis Fan, Babyjohn Choi and Vengo Gao Weiguang. Hotshot detective Ma (Nicholas Tse) is critically injured while pursuing a serial killer known as "General" (Vengo Gao). With his life on the line, Ma undergoes a heart transplant. A year and a half later, numerous murder cases similar to General's cruel methods continue to occur around the world, even though General is supposedly dead. Despite not being fully recovered, Ma teams up with criminal psychology professor Che (Sean Lau) to investigate the serial killings. However, in the course of the investigation, the two begin to engage in a tense battle of wits. Che, a proponent of the cellular memory theory, displays especial interest in the effects of Ma's heart transplant while Ma discovers that Che may be harboring a secret of his own.

One of the biggest box-office hits of 2008, The Chaser won the prestigious Grand Prize award at the 44th Baeksang Art Awards and brought down the house during its screening at the 61st Cannes Film Festival. Moreover, the film took home five top prizes at the 45th Daejong Awards including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor. In his brilliant directorial and screenwriting debut, helmer Na Hong Jin presents a crime thriller loosely based on a real-life infamous serial killer who murdered more than twenty victims - mostly prostitutes. The Chaser centers on one man's harrowing and inexorable pursuit of an insidious serial killer and the bitter reality of our society. Attracting one million theatergoers in its opening week mainly through word of mouth, The Chaser surpassed the 2003 record achieved by its genre's benchmark Memories of Murder. Award-winning veteran Kim Yoon Seok, best known for his villainous role as "A-gui" in Tazza: The High Rollers, and Ha Jung Woo, who previously starred in Kim Ki Duk's arthouse films Breath and Time, make brilliant turns playing the chaser and the chased, respectively. Breaking from the pattern of its predecessors, The Chaser sets new standard for Korean thrillers by taking a no-nonsense approach teeming with intense realism and maximum suspense. Stripped of his badge because of corruption charges, ex-cop Joong Ho (Kim Yoon Seok) now runs an escort service. Though an angel fallen from the grace, Joong Ho stills hangs on to a speck of conscience. The recent surge of mysterious disappearances involving his girls have kept him on his toes. It is not until Mi Jin (Seo Young Hee, Shadows In The Palace) is sent out in response to a patron's call that Joong Ho realizes the phone number of Mi Jin's client matches that of the last call received by all of his missing girls. While frantically searching for Mi Jin, Joong Ho spots Young Min (Ha Jung Woo) whose bloodstains instinctually convince him that he's got the suspect in hand. Nabbing him, Joong Ho brings Young Min to the police, and astoundingly, the suspect confesses to the killings of all the missing prostitutes. Donning a conniving smirk, Young Min hints that Mi Jin could still be alive. Young Min is released due to lack of evidence, but rather than dispatching a search team for the missing captive, the police shift their focus on other issues. Taking the matters to his own hands, Joong Ho begins his relentless chase for the killer.

Four years after unwittingly cracking his first case, Aaron Kwok's inept private eye is back in action with an improved grade in the highly anticipated The Detective 2! Director Oxide Pang's stylish 2007 mystery was considered one of the best solo efforts from the Pang Brothers, and this time he returns to Bangkok with stars Aaron Kwok and Liu Kai Chi for an even more suspenseful crime-solving adventure. But when Chak is seriously wounded by a mysterious assailant, Tam deduces that the only way to uncover the truth is to get into the mind of the deranged killer, and in so doing he is forced to face a long-hidden side of himself...

Co-directed by Jo Eui Seok (The World of Silence) and Kim Byung Seo, Cold Eyes is the rare remake that lives up to the original.

6 Tips for Choosing the Best Thriller Movie in Malaysia

If you are looking for movies that will keep you on the edge of your seat, then thriller movies are your best bet. Thriller films in Malaysia come in different types and production values. Not to mention, there is already a vast selection of thrillers which makes choosing hard. To help you out, here is a short list of recommendations to keep in mind.

Read online reviews

Most people these days rely on online reviews to determine if the movie is good. It’s best to look for ratings and reviews on third-party websites and not on the movie’s official website where fake reviews are usually encountered. Fake reviews are often very short and use a lot of superlatives. Real reviews, on the other hand, are moderate when giving out praise and sound honest when providing criticism.

Check the director and cast

Guillermo del Toro, Jeremy Saulnier, and Martin Scorsese are some of the most brilliant directors of the thriller genre today. Their movies often involve characters and scenes that keep movie-goers on the edge of their seats. Pick thriller movies that were directed by these acclaimed directors to ensure a quality movie experience. Moreover, it’s also important to check the cast. If the film includes a cast you’ve never seen or heard before, then check their previous works or read the reviews to see if the story is good.

Choose the type of thriller you want

Thriller is pretty broad and can be associated with other genres like action, horror, sci-fi, and much more. It has various types or sub-genres that will help you choose the right thriller movie for you. Action thrillers, comedy thrillers, conspiracy thrillers, and supernatural thrillers are some of the popular subgenres. If you prefer sci-fi movies and decide to watch a thriller, then choose one that features sci-fi elements. If you want intense thrillers with a horror element, then you can try zombie or vampire thriller films. If you like paranormal, then a thriller with hauntings or ghosts will suit you. Also, there are some thrillers that are based on a true story and others that are pure fiction.

Word of Mouth

If you have friends or relatives who are movie-buffs or fans of thriller films, then you can ask them for recommendations. They will be able to suggest a vast selection of good thriller titles for you to select. Also, ask them about the film’s duration, ratings, cast, director, and other essential information.

Take note of previous thriller movies you enjoyed

If you have watched thriller movies in the past and enjoyed them, then you better take note of them and the reasons why you liked watching them. If you enjoyed them because they are suspenseful, action-packed, filled with visual effects, etc., then take note of these elements and make them a standard when looking for thriller movies.

What are you in the mood for?

One of the key factors that will let you decide the right type of thriller movie is your current mood. If you feel like watching a thriller with too much blood and gore, perhaps a horror thriller is what’s suitable for you. If you are in the mood for a thriller flick yet you also want to have a good laugh, then a thriller comedy is best for you. Keep in mind these things when looking for thriller movies in Malaysia
