“There’s no place like Rome because Rome makes history.” No truer words have been spoken about the birthplace of a true force in fashion; Fendi. If you’re ready to make history with every wear, then Fendi’s bold extravagance is for you. Created by Eduardo and Adele Fendi in 1925, the Fendi fashion house started out as a small leather goods shop and fur workshop in Rome, Italy. Today, after 90 years of making fashion history, the brand has proven to be an unshakeable force in the world of fashion.

Fantastic Fendi; back to the beginning

The brand also branched out to include fragrances, timepieces and home décor.

Fendi has been at the helm of many iconic fashion moments since its inception. In 1933, the brand used a type of leather with a natural yellow tint which eventually became Fendi’s chromatic identity. Starting from 1946, the second generation Fendi sisters; Anna, Carla, Alda, Franca and Paola entered the company and ignited the start of a new fashion revolution. It wasn’t long before Karl Lagerfeld took the reigns as lead designer and experimented with fur. He invented the Double F logo which stood for “fun fur”.

Now owned by Louis Vuitton Group, this luxury brand continues to symbolize Italian glamour. Best known for their logo laden accessories, Fendi consistently produce some of the most coveted products of the century. Their ‘it bag’, the “Baguette” was designed by Silvia Venturini Fendi in the 90s and still remains a favourite today. Among the brand’s famous products in Malaysia includes the Fendi Spy bag, Zucca tote, Peekaboo tote, Selleria tote, Maxi Baguette, coin purse, men’s wallet, men’s shoes, spectacle frames, scarves, beaded Baguette, baby clothes and shoes and Fendi’s 2015 bag collection.

Karl Lagerfeld’s reign of success with Fendi includes combining innovative textured fabrics such as cashmere, felt, and duchesse satin with exotic skins like crocodile and snake as seen on the pieces that were showcased at one of Fendi’s show’s at Milan Fashion Week. In an effort to broaden Fendi’s reach to the masses, the brand introduced a mobile app that is compatible with iOS and Android smartphones. The app not only enables users to browse through the brand’s latest offerings on the go, one can create one’s own unique Baguette design and share it with the Fendi community as well.

Tinseltown’s finest and style makers such as Jessica Alba, Jordana Brewster, Rihanna, Sarah Jessica Parker, Olivia Palermo and more have all been spotted wearing Fendi. The Baguette has been seen on Jessica Biel, Sarah Jessica Parker and Emma Stone to boot. It was even featured on an episode of Sex and The City and sparked one of the show’s most popular quote/phrase.
