Form Factor

Needless to say, the size of your motherboard plays a huge role before you can build and install it in your system. This becomes even more important when you are building your own customized PC. Most of the time, a lot of people tend to choose a motherboard that can fit well with their computer cases. However, you can also choose to use smaller motherboard because you can put it in a larger computer case.

Compatibility Issue

One thing that most people always forget during the selection of motherboard is they forget to check on whether their motherboards have been approved to work with their CPUs. While you can use older boards that can work well with different generations of processors due to similar socket type, most motherboards always require a BIOS update before they can even work with latest processors. At the same time, there are some rare cases where the CPU must use same socket type like the one on the motherboard.

Another important consideration is newer motherboards with the latest generation of processors also need a BIOS update before they can work with the newest CPUs in the market.
