Smartphones have undoubtedly become an indispensable part of our everyday lives, a device that we simply cannot live without. Although some smartphones today can be quite costly, there are also affordable alternatives available that offer great value for your money. Moreover, as new models are constantly being released frequently, previous models have become great steals thanks to their reduced prices. Here are some of the best value for money smartphones to look out for if you are on a limited budget.
Previously, Xiaomi officials tweeted about a new device coming soon but they did not confirm if it is the Redmi Note 4. But last year in November, the Redmi Note 4 was launched in China, and now starts selling in other countries like Nepal. Recently, Xiaomi just unveiled the device in India on May 16 and it has already sold over a million Redmi Note 4 units. As for its specifications, the Redmi Note 4 comes with a decent 296 PPI pixel density in its 5.5-inch IPS LCD display. It is available in three storage variants: the 2 GB RAM/32 GB storage, 3 GB RAM /32 GB storage, and the 4 GB RAM/64 GB storage. It houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with 8 cores clocked at 1.4 GHz along with an Adreno 505 GPU. It also comes equipped with a stellar 4100 mAh battery. In the camera department, the Redmi Note 4 hosts a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front snapper as expected for a mid-range device. However, unlike many other mid-range models, it comes with a phase detection autofocus that allows shooting moving objects. Aside from these, the Redmi Note 4 hosts a micro SD slot and a dual SIM feature. In terms of the operating system, Xiaomi loaded the device with the Android Marshmallow version, unlike its high-end smartphones that host the latest Android version, the Nougat. The Redmi Note 4 sports a gyroscope, IR blaster, and a fingerprint sensor which many other phones in this range don’t have. It also comes with the basic sensors like ambient light, accelerometer, compass, and proximity. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is already out in Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, and Hong Kong. It comes with a starting price of 673 RM (220 SGD, 7,750 PHP, and 1,215 HKD).

Considered to be one of the best flagship smartphones in the market in its time, compared to the powerhouses of Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Apple iPhone, the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro surprised almost everyone with its market price that is so close at cost while being at par with other high-quality competitors. Being almost 5 years old in the industry, Xiaomi has put up their strategies of reliable word of mouth and flash sales to compensate their late entry in the smartphone business. With products that are shockingly affordable but carry high-performing specs and high-quality aesthetics, the company is slowly being one of the most valuable startups in China.
The Xiaomi Mi Note Pro’s predecessor packs so much power that it was considered an actual challenge to the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the Apple iPhone 6 Plus. Now, with the upgrade that comes along with a flagship name of “Pro”, it leaves little to imagination of what the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro is capable of doing. Packing with it a collection of current-generation hardware that includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor and a sharp 2K display, you will also be pleasantly surprised with its dual-SIM LTE capabilities, 64GB on internal storage, and a powerhouse 4GB RAM as an icing on this big cake of a smartphone. Include also the 13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization and you will get a worthy competitor of the iPhone 6. Now, what about the aesthetics? The Xiaomi Mi Note Pro boasts a refined glass-and-aluminum design that oozes both style and class. Along with the gold accented metal trim bezel, the subtle curves around the back, and neatly-placed volume and power buttons, the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro is relatively a sight for sore eyes.
It’s a sad note that the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro is not fully available outside of Asia. While Xiaomi is opting and optimizing its smartphone sales in the Asia regions, if you’re keen on getting yourself a smartphone that could top the performance and design of powerhouses like Samsung and Apple, then this phone is rightly for you. With an affordable price tag clinging on a mobile housing that emits a sense of style and class, along with the high-performing specs underneath the hood, the Xiaomi Mi Note Pro is a flagship smartphone most likely to be favored for those not wanting to jump on the mainstream wagon on branded smartphones.
