Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Malaysia Price, Specs, Review

Mi Max 2 - A Large Handset with Impressive Battery Life

The Mi Max 2 is one of the biggest handsets that Xiaomi has ever manufactured. It wields a large 6.44-inch display that makes it great for watching movies and reading. Aside from that, here’s a rundown of its specs and features.

A much-improved design

Compared to its predecessors, the Xiaomi Mi Max 2 has some noticeable design upgrades. For instance, its edges have become rounder compared to the original Mi Max smartphone, where the sides on the back of the device just veered around the corners. Just like the Xiaomi Mi Max, the Mi Max 2 comes with an all-metal body with no plastic trimmings on the top and bottom edge.

On the handset's rear side, you can see the circular fingerprint scanner and the 12 MP camera. The USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer is situated on the base; alongside it is the speaker grilles, which houses a speaker on one side.

On the front, there is the ginormous 6.44-inch display, which has bezels that appear slimmer on the side than on the top and bottom. At the top, you can see the earpiece speaker, ambient light sensor, and the 5 MP front camera

Powerful Hardware

The Mi Max 2 houses a more powerful Snapdragon 652 chipset, which is almost as powerful as its predecessor, at the same time much more efficient. There is also a 4 GB RAM and 64 GB internal storage on the Mi Max 2, which can be expanded up to 256 GB. Since this handset sports a hybrid SIM card slot, you will have to give up one slot for either a second SIM card or a microSD card. The Mi Max 2 runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat, making it user-friendly and speedy in terms of processes.

In terms of gaming performance, the Mi Max 2 offers smooth gameplay and you won’t feel any heating of the device while playing graphics-intensive 3D games. Contrast ratios are good for indoor performance (1294:1) while outdoor is at 2.561. As for call quality, the device’s performance is top notch, although you just have to get used to handling such a large device while taking a call.

Decent Camera Performance

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 comes with a 12 MP rear camera of f/2.2 aperture, while its front camera sports a 5 MP resolution. Although it doesn't have an optical image stabilization on board, the Mi Max 2’s camera is packed with many great modes such as panorama, manual, beautify, tilt-shift, and even a group shot that lets you shoot multiple photos of groups so you can pick the best one later.

Massive Battery Life

The Mi Max 2 not only has a gigantic display but also boasts a massive battery life of 5,300 mAh. Not only that, it also supports Quick Charging 3.0 technology that fills up its ginormous battery from 0 to 22% in only half an hour!

The Mi Max 2 comes in Gold and Matte Black, making it a classy addition to your gadgets.

Impossible to use in one hand without the help of software. MIUI is a very heavy Android skin, and software updates are rare.
