What Is Known So Far of the Galaxy S9+

The 2018 versions of Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S line was announced during the MWC event in Barcelona, Spain. According to the official announcement, the Galaxy S9 Plus will be offering many new and upgraded features that many Android users in Malaysia can look forward to. Below are some of the main highlights in regards to the Galaxy S9 Plus Malaysia.

Galaxy S9+ Release Date and Price

During Samsung's Unpacked event held ahead the MWC 2018, the tech giants revealed that the Galaxy S9+ will be available in retail stores worldwide on March 16, 2018. Pre-orders for the Malaysian market will be available from 1st March up til 4th March. In terms of how much the device will cost, prices are as follow -RM3799 for the 64GB variant, RM3999 for the 128GB model, and RM4,399 for the 256GB unit.

Design and Build Quality

In terms of design, the Galaxy S9+ will have the same design cues as previous models, hence looking quite similar to its predecessors. Samsung flagships have always impressed design-wise, hence opting to stick to the existing script is a good move from the South Korean giants. It will have the same glass-clad body as the Galaxy S9 as well as its predecessors. One new and much-welcomed difference is seen on the back of the phone, as Samsung has realigned the fingerprint sensor to be located below its cameras, making them more accessible than the one on the Galaxy S8. The phone will also boast IP68 water and dust resistance which makes it more durable for outdoor use. The Galaxy S9 Plus will also come with dual stereo speakers which are 40% louder than the S8 Plus to ensure that the audio it provides will match the visual quality.

The Galaxy S9 Plus will be available in four colours - Midnight Black, Coral Blue, Titanium Grey, and Lilac Purple.

Display

The feature that Samsung flagships are best known for is its display and the Galaxy S9+ is once again fitted with a superb display panel. The Galaxy S9+ comes with a 6.2-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display. The 2,960 x 1,440p display will deliver immersive colours and sharp image quality which will result in a better gaming and video-watching experience.

Internal Hardware

As the Galaxy S9+ is coined to be the upcoming flagship from Samsung, it comes without surprise that expectations are high when it comes to the performance it can deliver. The Galaxy 9S+ will be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 processor and should be paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. If this combination of specs is true, then heavy users are in for a treat as the Galaxy S9+ should be powerful enough to handle any tasks with ease. This should also make the device the perfect mobile entertainment device.

Camera Capabilities

During the announcement, the main emphasis seems to be on the new and improved imaging hardware and software features of the Galaxy S9 Plus. The phone will come with a dual-aperture dual-lens camera at the back. This flagship device will become the world's first smartphone with a f/1.5 aperture. It is designed to replicate the human eye, thus featuring a variable aperture, which is a mechanical adjustment that automatically adjusts the aperture to control the amount of light that enters the camera. This reduces the noise levels as well as preventing the photos from being overexposed. The camera will also support motion-detected super slow-motion video capture up to 960fps.
