Samsung Galaxy J3 Pro Malaysia: A Budget Phone with a Premium Design

The Samsung Galaxy J3 Pro is one of the most affordable mid-range handsets on the market that feature high-end specs, such as an OLED display. Aside from that, it has other nifty features up its sleeve that can match its rivals.

Simple Yet Functional Design

Although it is not a flagship device that sports a glass or metal exterior, the J3 Pro is made of sturdy plastic that looks elegant and feels nice in the hand. On top of that, it’s slim and light, making it very comfortable to use and easy to put in the pocket.

Awesome Display

Unlike its previous iteration, the Samsung Galaxy J3 Pro sports a Super AMOLED panel on its 5-inch display with a 720p resolution. It offers a decent performance as colors look sharp, which you don’t see on many budget handsets. On top of that, the J3 Pro’s display comes with a set of customization modes seen in Samsung’s flagship models. Another great display feature of the J3 Pro is the “outdoors mode” that boosts the display quality so it can be legible enough under super bright lighting conditions.

Neat User Interface

The Samsung Galaxy J3 Pro runs Android Lollipop (Android 5.1) that offers an interface with a great look and feel. The interface looks neat and attractive, thanks to TouchWiz - the long-standing Samsung custom Android skin. Not only that, you can add folders to the apps menu, change its arrangement, and use themes to reskin your phone.

Decent Processor

At its core, the Samsung Galaxy J3 Pro runs on Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 chip with 4 cores clocked at 1.2 GHz with a 2 GB of RAM. With that, it can do the job for high-end games as long as the top visual settings are off. You can play games with medium visuals like Dead Trigger 2, where there will be no signs of frame rate hitches.

Good Camera Performance

The J3 Pro comes with an 8-megapixel f/2.2 on the rear, which is expected for an entry-level device. However, it offers better results than those devices sporting the same specs on paper. When shooting regular photos, the J3 Pro doesn’t suffer from major shutter lags, making it a fun camera to use. The J3 Pro’s camera produces detailed shots that offer a decent punch, while the low-light photos appear crisp, although not as good as the ones taken from a flagship Galaxy phone.

Satisfactory Battery Life

The J3 Pro is equipped with a removable 2,600-mAh battery which is decent enough for its price range. As for its stamina, the handset can manage around 6 hours of gaming which is something you don’t see in many budget phones. Meanwhile, streaming video over Wi-Fi only takes about 12% off its battery life in an hour which has similar results to its rivals.

Its underpowered processor makes the photo-capture slow enough to miss action shots
