The Mobile World Congress (a.k.a MWC) 2018, one of the biggest events in the mobile industry has just recently ended last Friday in Barcelona. As we look back at the festivities, MWC this year felt a little underwhelming, probably because Samsung stole the show before the event even officially began with the launch of the Galaxy S9. Nevertheless, the show still had its fair share of highlights that is worth talking about. Hence, below are some of the most notable handsets that were seen last week.
Watching YouTube on LG V30 just got better as the HDR version of YouTube is now available on the smartphone. HDR, which stands for high dynamic range, is a feature that not many smartphone users are unable to experience. It provides a deeper level of contrast and richer colours compared to what is usually seen on smartphones.
Another year, another flagship device from our favorite smartphone company – LG. It definitely doesn’t want to fall behind like it did last year with the G5. This year, the LG G6 is set to go head to head with its competitors by going back to the basics and focusing on what matters most to its users.
LG V30S ThinQ: The Next Flagship to Look Out For
If you are currently looking to change your smartphone, just wait patiently for a few more months for the LG V30S ThinQ to be available in stores. This next flagship by South Korean brand LG is a feature-filled device with highlights such as an AI-supported camera, Android Oreo, and an impressive set of specifications. Below is a rundown of what we know so far about the phone so far.
LG V30S ThinQ Price and Release Date in Malaysia
The LG V30S ThinQ is now on sale in the US for $729 (approximately RM2900 at the time of writing) courtesy of B&H Photo. However, there is no news thus far about its official available in Malaysian stores.
All-Glass Chassis and HDR-Ready Display
In terms of the design, the LG V30S ThinQ resembles the core V30 smartphone released in 2017, with the only exception being the addition of new colour variants. The phone will still have an all-glass chassis that is supported by an elegant steel frame that adds luxury to the overall visual appeal of the device. Its 18:9 display ratio makes it feel smaller in the hand than you might initially expect, especially when it comes with a 6-inch display.
Speaking of the display, the LG V30 ThinQ is fitted with a 2,880 x 1,440p resolution display that provides immersive visuals and accurate colours, perfect for watching HD movies and high-resolution games. This also makes the phone VR-ready, an exciting prospect for users who wants to utilize Google Daydream.
Pre-Installed Android Oreo and Improved User Interface
Out of the box, the LG V30S ThinQ comes installed with Android Oreo 8.0 and all the upgrades that accompany it such as picture-in-picture (PIP) support for YouTube, Google Maps, and Hangouts, as well as notification dots to update you about your phone, just to name a few. Apart from that, another software refinement that can be seen is in the form of its user interface. The menus are now more streamlined, enabling you to access the information more easily.
Driven by Dragon Power
The LG V30S will also be equipped with the Snapdragon 835 chipset which is one of the most advanced processors available today. While it is not the latest-and-greatest processor out there, it is still more than capable of handling the most demanding apps and games with ease.
Smart AI Camera
The standout feature of the V30S ThinQ is its feature-filled cameras. Firstly, the camera app interface enables users to switch between the rear cameras – a 16MP telephoto camera and a 13MP wide-angle camera – with a simple swipe. The phone’s new AI feature is capable of identifying the subject in front of them and adjusts to the appropriate mode. There are 8 modes that the AI Cam can choose from and it is almost always dead accurate.
Another exciting feature is the QLens, which enables users to snap the photo of an object and search for relevant results online. This means that if you see a dress on the street that you fancy, you can snap a photo of it and QLens will search for where you can buy it online.
