Camera quality and tools

Lenovo A536 comes with a 5 MP primary camera with LED flash that is useful for taking pictures in low light situations. Along with the rear clicker, there is also a front-facing 2 MP camera that is particularly useful for taking selfies and holding video conferences. The picture quality of the primary camera is satisfactory and sometimes in ideal conditions, the picture quality also surpasses some major brands. There are few advanced camera settings that aid in capturing pictures on the fly and adding post-processing effects easier. The selfie camera, however, turned out to be a surpriseas the 2MP shutter took photos that are bound to expectations.

Operating system and interface

On the plus side of Lenovo A536, the phone comes preloaded with the latest Android based operating system, known as Jelly Bean. You will be glad to know that Lenovo has taken active measures to ensure that you get a smooth and clutter free navigation and UI. The various app icons are placed strategically and work like a charm on touch responses. Display and performance

The phone is headlined by its 5 inch screen that comes with a resolution of 854x480 pixels. The colours are vibrant, and image clarity is crisp. This configuration is standard, but for the price that has to be paird, at least a 720p screen would have sufficed. Played a couple of videos and games, and they all performed decently and without and hiccups. Maybe it is because of smaller than expected screen size or the phone’s power. Multi-tasking test went well enough as running multiple apps simultaneously, playing music and web browsing all at the same time resulted in no significant lag.

Calling and battery life

As expected, the Lenovo A536 comes with a 2000mAh battery that has a moderate backup of 12 hours when it comes to talking time, and 12.5 hours when put on standby on phones 3G mode. Normal backup time, however, is around 300 hours. Call quality is also good as long distance calls never seemed to have any problem regarding connectivity, neither any problems recognizing speech. Battery longetivity is decent and if you are not a heavy user of smartphones then battery life of this phone should be the least of your worries.

Verdict

In Malaysia, Lenovo A536 will compete with other phones in the same range such as Asus Zenfone 5, Lava Iris X1 and LG L60. And so far, it has fared really well to make a name for itself. This phone packs almost all the requirements one would come to expect from a budget Smartphone, and that is why it has done so well in the market. Its great quality primary camera and a surprisingly good 2MP selfie camera itself make this phone worthy of purchase. If only had Lenovo revamped its screen resolution to 1280x720, this phone would have soared above its competition.
