The smartphone industry is ever evolving, with manufacturers constantly introducing new features to impress consumers and gain an upper hand on competitors. One of these features that has successfully gained the attention of consumers is the inclusion of watermarks on pictures taken by the smartphone’s camera.

Many flagship models have included this function as part of the long list of features offered by the devices. The photos taken on the Xiaomi Mi 6 contains a watermark with the inscription “Shot on Mi 6”. Now, Huawei has decided to jump on the bandwagon by making this feature available on the Honor 8 smartphone.

According to an announcement made by Huawei, the company would begin pushing a new firmware version via OTA which will make the function available to Honor 8 users. Following the current trend, the watermark is most likely to appear at the bottom corner of pictures taken by the device.

The Honor 8 was made its entry into the smartphone market in July 2016 and was widely praised for its impressive list of specifications, which includes sporting a 5.2-inch Full HD resolution display. The smartphone is powered by Huawei’s very own Kirin 950 chipset and has three different memory combinations for users to choose from – 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, 4GB RAM + 32GB storage, and 4GB RAM + 64 GB storage. The device also has a 12MP dual rear camera which will enable users to utilize the soon to be added watermark function.

In terms of the battery, the Honour 8 also houses a 3,000mAh battery that has become a staple in most mid-range smartphones today. The device supports 9V2A fast charging and an abundant supply of power-saving software tricks. According to experts and analysts, there is also a high possibility that Huawei will be making this feature readily available for its upcoming devices, namely the Honor 9 and V9.
