Huawei Honor 6 Malaysia Review – Top-End Features on a Budget Phone

Budget-friendly smartphones like the Honor 6 are progressively improving in terms of their quality and offered features, which makes us think twice about whether we should invest in a high-end smartphone. Despite being marketed as a midrange smartphone, the Huawei Honor 6 sports features to compete with models that are priced much higher than it is. Below is a highlight of Huawei Honor 6 specs.

Vivid Full-HD Display

One of the most apparent signs that the Honor 6 is punching well above its weight comes in the form of its display. This Honor phone comes with a 5-inch IPS LCD display with a 1,920 x 1,080 Full-HD resolution, a feature that is quite rare amongst phones in the same price range. The screen has 441ppi which trumps what is offered on more expensive phones like the iPhone 6 (326ppi), Samsung Galaxy S5 (432ppi). The screen’s high pixel density unsurprisingly results in accurate colour reproduction while text and images are crisp and sharp. It is also bright enough to remain legible outdoors under the bright sun. The colour temperature is quite even but users are given the option to tweak it to their preference in the settings menu.

Speedy Performance

Under its hood, the Honor 6 phone houses Huawei’s own octa-core Kirin 920 chipset that is backed by 3GB of RAM. As the chip uses four low-speed cores to handle regular tasks and four high-performance cores for more demanding tasks, it provides power-efficiency without compromising performance. This impressive engine delivers flawless performance across the board, be it everyday functions or multitasking. Movie-streaming and 3D games are also handled with minimal lags or drops in frame rate, which is remarkable for a budget-focused phone like the Honor 6.

Decent Cameras

Thankfully, Huawei did not decide to skimp on the camera quality for the Honor 6. The phone is fitted with a 13MP fourth-generation Sony BSI image sensor at its rear. Images taken are sharp and have accurate colours. The camera app also offers a reasonable amount of manual control in normal mode for users to adjust the ISO, white balance, exposure, saturation, etc accordingly. There is also an ultra-fast snapshot option available for situations where you need to capture instantaneous shots. On the other hand, the 5MP front camera takes crisp and sharp selfies that you can upload to social media confidently.
