DooGee Mix – An Absolute Steal
If you are familiar with the mobile industry today, you will notice that less-renowned trends are gaining more attention as they are producing feature-filled smartphones that can compete with the models offered by more popular and well-known brands. One of these is a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, DooGee. Despite not being anywhere close to a household name, you should not write it off just yet as DooGee produces feature-filled smartphones that are sold at affordable prices. If you are not one who cares too much about brands, then you should take notice of the features offered by the DooGee Mix.
Design and Construction
First impressions of the DooGee Mix when it comes to aesthetics is positive; in fact, you wouldn’t have guessed that the phone only costs RM610.00 just by its looks alone. The device comes with a metal chassis with glass front and back, which gives the phone a premium look and feel, a rare sight for phones at its price range. Most of the phone’s front panel is taken up primarily by a 5.5-inch display, with a thick bezel at the bottom of the phone. The reason why the bottom bezel is thick is that it is where the fingerprint-sensor-cum-capacitive-button and front-facing camera are placed. There is also a thin, barely-noticeable bezel at the top of the screen which houses the earpiece and various sensors.
The volume and power button are placed on the right side, while the dual-SIM and microSD port are on the other side of the device, providing a nice sense of balance. Flipping the phone over reveals a dual rear camera setup.
DooGee has opted for a 5.5-inch AMOLED display for the Mix, which gives off colourful hues and exceptional contrast. Hence, you would not be disappointed with the visual quality despite it only having a 1,280x720p resolution. Viewing angles are good which means that you can view onscreen content from all angles without any loss in quality. The display is also bright enough for it to remain visible when it is used outdoors under the sun.
DooGee has equipped the Mix with an octa-core MediaTek Helio P25 that handles day-to-day operations without lagging, especially when it is supported by 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There will be a drop in performance when it comes to handling heavier apps and graphics-intensive games, but it should not be a deal breaker considering that this device is a budget smartphone in the first place.
Battery life is the bane of many budget smartphones' existence, but the same cannot be said about the Mix. The Mix’s 3380mAh battery effectively powers the device through a busy day of browsing the Web, replying to emails, watching YouTube videos, and some light gaming.
