Losing The Keyboardon the Blackberry Z10

Many will remember BlackBerry as the name of the smartphone brand which utilizes a hardware keyboard in its design. However, with the BlackBerry Z10, that notion has gone through an entirely new phase. The BlackBerry Z10 is BlackBerry's first smartphone that opts for a purely touchscreen experience, completely doing away with the traditional BlackBerry hardware keyboard that is present on all previous BlackBerry smartphones.

It's a complete redesign and reinvention of the traditional BlackBerry smartphone. By opting for a purely touchscreen navigation, it sort of brings the BlackBerry brand towards the era of modern smartphones from 2013 onwards.

A Design That Is Still BlackBerry

The traditional BlackBerry design would have a smaller display with a keyboard on the front, but with the Z10 the keyboard has to be dismissed in favour of a larger touchscreen display. Even in the absence of the hardware keyboard, the BlackBerry Z10 is still able to retain the BlackBerry flavour.

The front of the device is covered in a sheet of edge-to-edge glass of 4.2 inch that is set into a single solid frame throughout the length of the phone. A display of this size is chosen because of the proper balance of size in the human hand; BlackBerry believes that at 4.2 inches, they have hit the sweet spot between one and two-handed use. It's body's outer housing isn't made of metal, but of durable plastic that is combined with an internal stainless steel metal frame that increases structural rigidity while allowing the Z10's antenna to perform at its best. A satin finish completes the entire smartphone's design, making it not only premium-feeling, but entirely functional and comfortable in the hand.

Once You Go LTE, You Never Go Back

The BlackBerry Z10 is BlackBerry's first attempt with making a BlackBerry smartphone with LTE (4G) connectivity. LTE connectivity is incredibly fast for mobiles, easily achieving speeds of up to at least 100 megabits per second on the go; and if stationary, it's possible to achieve up to 1 Gigabit per second.

That's on paper of course, but in the real world use, it translates to loading your websites and videos much faster. It is noticeable: You'll see your favourite websites loading up much quicker, your videos will spend less time buffering and more time showcasing the content that you want instead. It's that fast.
