Asus ZenFone 2 Price, Specs, Review

Asus ZenFone 2 – A Powerful Budget Option

Nowadays, affordable smartphones no longer offer sub-par specs as they once did. Although they might not be as advanced as flagships or high-end counterparts, they are still capable of handling everyday functions without much difficulty. The ZenFone 2 is one such smartphone, offering commendable features despite its affordable price tag.

Build and Design

Asus has decided to opt for a radical design for the ZenFone 2 so that it does not look like what its mid-range price tag suggests. It has a curved removable plastic back with a brush metal finish that gives the phone a premium look despite not being made of metal. The rounded corners and curved back make for a comfortable feel in the hand. Furthermore, the plastic rear also has a faux metallic coating which not only contributes to its aesthetics but also allows better grip.

Display

In terms of display, the ZenFone 2 is fitted with a large 5.5-inch IPS LCD display with 1080p resolution and 403ppi pixel density. The display is sharp and vivid, offering sufficient brightness to view in broad daylight without affecting legibility. 5.5-inches is also a good size for media consumption purposes, meaning that you will have a great experience while playing games and watching videos on this display.

Internal Hardware

Internally, the ZenFone 2 is equipped with a 64-bit Intel Atom Z3580 processor that is backed by a PowerVR G6430 GPU and 4GB worth of RAM. Having 4GB RAM enables the phone to multitask without slowing down. Animations are smooth, applications load quickly, and games can be played without any compromise on the frame rates. Performance-wise, the smartphone can deliver performance that is on par with those that are priced higher than it is.

Camera

The ZenFone 2 houses a 13MP rear shooter with a dual tone LED flash and an f/2.0 aperture. The device features Asus’ Pixelmaster technology that enhances photos and videos taken in low-light conditions. Furthermore, the 5MP front camera is great for taking selfies as it comes with a real-time beautification feature to improve how your selfies look.

Battery

The ZenFone 2 has a non-removable 3,000mAh that powers the device through the day. The phone comes with fast-charging technology which restores 60% of its battery life in a little more than half an hour.
