Choki Choki Origins

Choki Choki chocolate actually hails from our neighbouring country, Indonesia, as part of Mayora Brand’s repertoire. The chocolate paste snack is usually sold in warung or small shops along the street or in front of primary schools. Other popular snack brands from Mayora include Beng Beng, Astor, Better, Danisa, Roma, Superstar, Tamarin, Slai O’Lai, and more. It's great for party snacks, as a spread on bread, ingredients for Ice cream and cake, fruits and also just to be eaten on its own!

Choki Choki Flavours

Aside from the popular chocolate paste, Choki Choki also offers other variants. This includes Choki Choki chocolate milk and Choki Choki choco cashew.

Choki Choki Ingredients

The ingredients in a pack of Choki Choki chocolate paste is as follows:

Sugar, cocoa powder, vegetable oil (palm-contains Antioxidant BHA), milk powder, whey powder, emulsifier (soy lecithin E322), chocolate flavour, vanillin, salt.

Choki Choki Recipe Ideas

This chocolate paste snack is actually more versatile than you think. You can add it onto a toast for breakfast or incorporate it into your baked goods. One of the recipes you can try is Milk and Choki Choki chocolate marble cake. To bake this cake, you will need:

  • 150g sugar
  • 250g self-raising flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • ½ cups condensed milk
  • ½ tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 stick of Choki Choki

Combine all the ingredients with a mixer or a spoon and save the Choki Choki stick for last. Once the ingredients are combined, pour it in a baking tin and swirl in the Choki Choki chocolate paste. Use a toothpick to create the marble pattern on the top. Place it in a preheated oven with 190-degrees Celcius temperature for 20 minutes.

To make a quick creamy chocolate pudding, you will need:

  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 3 Choki Choki sticks
  • 3 Tbsps corn starch
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 Tbsps butter or margarine
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • whipped topping (optional)

Stir together sugar, cocoa, Choki-Choki, cornstarch and salt in medium saucepan; gradually stir in milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils; boil and stir 1 minute. Remove from heat; stir in butter and vanilla. Pour into individual dessert dishes. To avoid a skin from forming on top, press plastic wrap directly onto surface; serve warm or refrigerate at least 2 hours. Garnish with whipped topping, if desired. 4 servings.
