Canon Malaysia's inspirational early beginnings in brief

There is no need for an introduction as we all know that Canon has grown into a camera giant in both film and digital means. Canon Malaysia, with their signature Canon DSLR cameras, has helped photographers and users vividly capture beautiful moments that the world has to offer. Its logo is iconic and admired by photographers worldwide.

It all started in 1933 when a group led by Takeshi Mitarai and his three technician friends, established Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory. A year later, they successfully developed Japan's first 35-millimeter camera called, 'Kwanon', an innovation that was way out of the medical sector. Takeshi Mitaraj and co. incorporates the venture as Precision Optical Industry Company, Ltd. Canon's brave venture into business machines started off with the introduction of an electronic calculator in 1964 and then the plain-paper copier in 1968. These diversifications of business urged the company’s name to be changed to something simpler. Thus, Canon Inc..

Further innovation came from Canon's revolutionary AE-1 35-millimeter camera in 1976, leading to the introduction of the personal copier in 1982, and to a client namely Hewlett-Packard Company, they produced laser printers starting in 1985. In 1987, Canon Inc. launches the EOS autofocus SLR camera.
