Bruichladdich Port Charlotte 10 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky
RM 293.70
Harvey Nichols

Use code CNY10 for 10% OFF discount on fashion only | Sound the new Islay whisky klaxon. This is the much-anticipated, long-awaited, heavily peated 10 Year Old Port Charlotte, produced by the wonderful people at Bruichladdich. Peated to 40ppm - on a par with the likes of Ardbeg, Laphroaig and Lagavulin - and matured in American whiskey barrels and French wine casks, this is the first age statement bottling of Port Charlotte under its new guise. It tastes like a skirmish between a fruit salad and the residents of a Scottish fishing village. Amid the rubber galoshes, tarry ropes, smoked fish, rock pools, seaweed, crashing waves and peat smoke billowing from chimney pots, gun smoke and cordite mingle with a volley of apricots, bananas, pineapple, citrus and maybe even a flaming coconut thrown in anger. Then the warring factions call a truce and stop for a cup of lapsang souchong and a plate of biscuits; custard creams, ginger nuts and shortbread. Welcome to Port Charlotte, it's a lot of fun and nobody gets hurt, except for one banana who got lightly mushed in the fracas. Port Charlotte was founded in 1829. Although the name changed to Lochindaal, whisky production continued for a full century until it was finally closed in 1929. With only a couple of warehouses left standing and remaining stocks becoming more elusive than unicorns, it has quickly become the stuff of Islay legends. However, following notes made by the brewing and distilling historian Alfred Barnard, Bruichladdich has lovingly resurrected the brand and the spirit of the early pioneers who lived in the village of Port Charlotte.£8 per 100.00ml

Bruichladdich Port Charlotte MRC: 01 2010 Single Malt Scotch Whisky
RM 519.20
Harvey Nichols

Use code CNY10 for 10% OFF discount on fashion only | This new heavily peated 7 Year Old Port Charlotte was produced using 100% Scottish barley by the lovely people at Bruichladdich. It has been married together for a year in a red wine casks from one of the finest chteaux on Bordeaux's Left Bank. Although we're not really supposed to tell you which legendary First Growth winery that oak came from, suffice to say MRC doesn't stand for Lafite Rothschild Cask. Peated to 40ppm and distilled in 2010, 50% of this whisky was matured in first-fill American whiskey casks and 50% in second-fill French wine casks, before spending 12 months in exceptionally high provenance French wine barrels. What came out of those incredible casks offers up peat smoke, red summer berries, praline, roasted peaches, boiled sweets, marzipan, barbeque sauce, smoke ham, barista aprons, maple syrup and sea salt. It's a very complex dram, as you would expect from two titans of the alcoholic beverage world. Port Charlotte was founded in 1829.
