They have an eco-friendly vegan handbag line

The Italian luxury company has a vegan friendly bag made out of paper! It may come as a surprise, but paper can actually be as strong as leather. The collection of handbags is extraordinarily beautiful with the use of vegan-friendly materials. Designers are paying more attention to the ecological impact of the fashion business as they are busy looking for innovative fabrics and fine, valid materials for their creations.

A common material used for this Bottega Veneta eco-friendly collection is the mulberry bark. This is because; it is able to produce a thin, rather delicate paper that in reality is highly resistant. It is known as Japanese paper or washi which is often used as a decorative tape for various arts and crafts. Other than that, jersey is also used which is treated and processed in France and the dyed and finished in Italy by their in-house craftsmen. After that it is sewn to produce an unusual texture. The price of the bag is rather steep due to the fact that the interior is lined with silk and has a clasp made of burnished brass.

Celebrities love the brand

Today, Bottega Veneta bags and clothing can be seen worn and on the shoulders of A-list Hollywood celebrities like Amanda Seyfried, Cameron Diaz, Nicole Kidman, Kim Kardashian, Renee Zellweger, Jennifer Aniston and a lot more. School of leather

Instead of constantly looking for easy solutions and cost reductions by shifting production abroad, Bottega Veneta decided to preserve the tradition of leather craftsmanship by investing in the youth of Italy. They opened their own school to train and enhance the skills of future leather artisans’ generation. The three-year course is free for all students between the age of 18 and 25 and it is fully funded by Bottega Veneta. It will include leather goods techniques of all levels that will be taught throughout three-year course as well as English, computer skills, and fashion history. For the technical classes it will be conducted by the best artisans at Bottega Veneta.

The Art of Collaboration

As collaboration is an integral to Tomas Maier’s creative process as well as Bottega Veneta’s brand identity. Having a collaboration between artisan and designer has always been the foundation for the brand. On the other hand, it helps Maier to see things differently, explore new ideas to consider other possibilities. One of their most momentous collaborative projects to date is with NYC’s premiere shopping destination, Bergdorf Goodman. They had a full-store installation which shows of the creative process and collaboration through Maier’s eyes. It featured window displays, a dinner, and The Fenice as well as a limited-edition handbag purposely designed to celebrate the occasion.

A book about “The Art of Collaboration” has also been published in 2002 which features over 1000 photographs and illustrate these unique artistic partnerships after every season. This has been an ongoing project since 2002. It is a rather thick book which showcases 1000+ coloured as well as Black and White photos.

They have their own fragrance line

Although the brand is well-known for their leather-goods, their scents are rather popular as well. To recognize the importance of artisanal craftsmanship, Bottega Veneta also launched its first fragrance, named “Bottega Veneta” in 2011 and the daughter of Inès de la Fressange, Nine D’Urso, was invited to grace the campaign. Inspired by Bottega Veneta Knot clutches, perfumer Daniela Andrier formulated the olfactory Gordian Knot that makes up the base of this amazing perfume. Andrier took four exquisitely constructed accords and brought them together in an orange blossom focused creation. Bottega Veneta Knot has a 10-12 hour longevity rate with an average sillage.
